Vehicle Detail

1965 was the second year of the classic 911 body style. Forget trying to find a 1964. Only 45 out of the 232 Porsche 911s produced in 1964 are known to exist. One of the best restored examples of a 1964 911 sold for $222,500 at an RM auction in 2011. My father bought this 1965 Porsche 911 in the mid 1970s from a private individual. The car was last registered in 1983 and has spent the last 29 years garaged, though it has taken some short trips around the block. The engine, with only 42370 original miles, has just been tuned up with new spark plugs and it runs great. This Porsche has three Solex carburetors which have just been cleaned and overhauled, along with the intake manifolds. Finding a 1965 Porsche which still has the Solex carburetors is an extremely rare find. The mechanical fuel pump has been rebuilt and the fuel lines replaced. The rear brake calipers have been rebuilt with new stainless pistons and seals. The front brake calipers have been replaced with rebuilt ones, along with new front rotors. The brake master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir are also brand new. The passage of time also required various shifter and accelerator pedal bushings to be replaced. Some aftermarket seats with side support and 4 point seat belts were added. The original seats are in great shape and are included should you wish to reinstall them. The car comes with a more modern front spoiler without the iron weights that were originally present. Rather than steel wheels, this 1965 Porsche rides on wider alloy wheels with brand new Michelin tires. Two extra wheels and the original jack are included. The undercarriage is rusted and new brake lines were required, but the body is in good condition with the exception of the passenger side door sill, shown in photos. See pictures for close-ups of rust under the paint on the body. This fun to drive car could be used as a daily driver or better yet, restored as an investment since the drive train and interior are in great condition. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs if applicable. Happy Bidding.
