I drive every one of my sale vehicles and write a thorough description including the good and bad of the vehicle. I try to accurately describe any mechanical issues to the best of my ability, but I am not a mechanic. When I compare something as "average" I am comparing it against the average of similar year and mileage used vehicles on the road, not the average on a dealer's retail sales lot. I want you to know exactly what you are buying so you can bid with confidence. Up for auction today with NO RESERVE is a 1993 Mercury Cougar XR7 coupe. The white exterior of this Mercury is in good condition for the age and miles. As you can see in the pictures, it does have some of the normal blemishes that come from age and use. All of the body panels are straight. The Cougar alloy wheels are in very good condition and have a full set of center caps. They are wrapped in radial tires with good tread. There is a compact spare in the trunk. All the lights and glass appear to be in good condtion. This Cougar's interior is in average condition for the age. The leather seats are comfortable and would be improved greatly with a set of inexpensive seat covers. The driver's seat is power adjustable in a dozen directions and works properly. The carpets are in good condition and there is a set of floor mats. All of the dashboard and door trim is present. The "Door Ajar" warning does not turn off and the power seatbelts do not move automatically. The driver's power window goes up and down easily. The passenger window motor works, however the glass does not move from the fully up position. This car has the factory upgraded digital dashboard with trip computer, it all works as it should. The air conditioning blows nice and cold. The factory stereo has good sound. Mechanically the car is mostly in very good condition. The V6 engine fires up easily. It makes good power and gets better gas mileage than the optional V8. It holds good temp and oil pressure. The transmission is the wild card though. It gets up to speed and drives down the highway, but it will stutter under partial throttle and does not want to go into overdrive. I drove it 50 miles down the highway and around town and it did not stall or slip at all. It seems to run and drive as-is and aside from that issue, the rest of the mechanicals appear to be in very good condition. The steering is quick and responsive. The suspension is light and balanced. The brakes stop the car well. This car has almost a year worth of inspection left. It has PA safety and emmissions stickers good throught the end of July 2013. This is a comfortable car that rides well and with a little bit of work could be returned to excellent shape, or buy it cheap and drive it as is.
