1928 PACKARD 443 CUSTOM EIGHT Seven Passenger Sedan Data Plate Number 1728Engine S/N 231725AChassis S/N 231719Body Number 384334385 Cid, 109 HP Clear Pennsylvania transferable Title This un-restored and very solid survivor Packard is offered at low reserve. I am moving and I will no longer have room to store it. HISTORY:I was told by the guy I purchased it from three years ago that it was originally owned by The Huntington Daily News in Huntington county Pennsylvania. CONDITION:The condition of this car is difficult to describe but I will describe it as best I can and I have provided many pictures. This car is un-restored in the condition shown in the pictures. The engine runs very good for its age. The only time I drove this car was Labor Day this year to a car show about 1/2 mile from my home. It made it there and back without any problems. Brakes, transmission and clutch work fine. The entire car body was sprayed with rattle can rust-o-leum to protect it. Under the rust-o-leum is one coat of original Packard Blue paint. The hood and fenders were painted black when I bought it by the previous owner. There is no interior fabric. I removed the remains of the interior before I stored it in my garage because it was falling apart and was a fire hazard. I kept some of the material and some of the more intricate parts of the interior fabric for patterns. Includes all of the seat springs which are in good to poor condition. Includes all of the wood and metal parts of the interior seat frames. (There is an identical car with original interior in the Swope Auto Museum in Kentucky). All of the window winders and frames are there and working. The wood in this car is in good condition. There looks to be a fairly well done wood repair job done at the front drivers side cowl area. The original wood and chicken wire roof is in good condition. The metal on this car is excellent for its age. There are no visible dents. There are two small rust out areas. One at the bottom of the drivers door. One very small (quarter size) rust hole at the bottom of the right rear door. No other rustouts. I have provided pictures of these rusted areas. Tires are NEW Lester whitewalls (six of them) with about 2 miles on them. The whitewalls are stained but this staining might be able to be removed. The engine compartment is very original as you can see in the pictures. It has original spark plugs with the brass caps and nurled brass screw on tops. The vacuum fuel pump works very good. It pulls gasoline up from a gas can on the running board. The fuel tank looks to have a bunch of gunk in it so I have been running it from the gas can because didn't want to clog up the carb. Both splash pans are there and in pretty good shape. The engine starts right up and sounds like it should (like a big Packard engine) with no unusual noises. The engine runs with very little smoke. Carries 20 + lbs of oil pressure. The headlights and cowl lights are cracked quite a few places. The headlight lenses are in good condition. One cowl light lens is missing. The rear light is is good unrestored condition with the correct lenses (there is also a spare rear light) The instrument panel is complete but in poor condition and the glass is broken out. The oil pressure guage works and shows 20 + lbs oil pressure when it is running. Known missing items:One hood hold downFour (4) hood hold down rings Sun visorSeveral of the wood trim pieces around the windowsOne left rear shockBattery box coverBoth little round covers that cover the sidemount cover bolts. One wheel ring (right side spare) I think there may be a couple of door handles missing This Packard is located in Southeast Pennsylvania. Delivery anywhere in the US or abroad can be arranged.
