Vehicle Detail

If you're looking for a solid restoration project TR-6 this is definitely it! This car is unbelievably rust free and solid. It is a 1969 model which is the first year for the TR-6. It has a few nice features not found on later models including: no ugly over rider bumpers, no obnoxious steering lock and ignition switch under the dash by your knees. The Ignition switch is on the center console like a TR-4. some of the interior trim and exterior details are also particular to 1969. The original owner passed away and the car sat un-driven since the late 1980's. As you will see from the video posted below, I did get the engine started and it runs amazingly well! It has fantastic oil pressure and does not have excessive crankshaft end play (A common TR-6 problem). The Fuel system will need a thorough cleaning I ran it by simply filling each carburetors float bowl. The Fuel tank does not look rusty just has old, bad fuel in it. The brake and clutch hydraulics will of course need to be gone through although amazingly the brakes actually work a little bit. The electrical charging system works. most of the instruments work.Because the clutch hydraulics don't work the clutch and gearbox are untested but it does shift through gears o.k. when not running..It does not have an overdrive unit. This car would have come with Stromberg carburetors and some one has changed to S.U.'s (an improvement) otherwise the engine looks to be completely original and is the original engine for this car. The Body is overall very straight with only a few small dings. The worst of which is on the left front fender and pictured below. The paint appears to be original and in very poor condition. I can't find any significant rust anywhere on the car. The rockers are very solid, around the tail lights, the rear suspension mounting points all look great. The Interior is pretty shabby but it does come with a lot of new parts. Seats are decent with just a small hole and rip on the drivers seat. Carpets are rough and need replacing. It comes with new door panels, new door top pads, a good used dash top crash pad, 2 new bottom dash crash pads, shift lever boot and a few other misc pieces. The windscreen has a couple small chips otherwise all glass is good. It comes with a very rare and very nice condition original metal factory hard top. The tops headliner has some staining around the rear window but otherwise the top is in excellent condition. It also comes with the original soft top bows with the tattered remains of a soft top. The tyres are decent but old and should probably be replaced. The wheels have some surface rust around the chrome outer edge. The Car has a clear title and also comes with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certified copy of factory record detailing this cars particular history and specifications. Also included is the original owners manual. It does not come with a key but the ignition switch can be turned with a screwdriver. It does not come with a battery. Overall this is very much a project car but would make an excellent candidate for restoration or just fix up a little and drive as-is. This is a NO RESERVE auction starting at 99 cents!!!! Buyer is responsible for shipping costs and arrangements. I highly recommend and encourage a personal inspection if possible. The TR-6 can be viewed by appointment in Granite Falls WA (near Seattle) I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Car must be picked up within 30 days. Feel free to ask any questions. Please watch this video of the engine running:
