Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1985 Jaguar Xj6 S3 with 77,500 miles. The Series 3 was the final run of the original Xj6 and is well know for being the most reliable Xj's as well as the most advanced sports sedan of its day. It is a great runner with pounds of style that has been cared for very well during its tenure and has just had an extensive service. To the winner goes the car along with the folder containing years of meticulous receipts for the specialist only performed services. The previous owner informed me that the Xj was purchased new by a lawyer in downtown San Diego California and was driven sparingly. At some point the gentleman that I bought it from purchased it some years ago from the original owner and it was garage kept for most of its time with him. A divorce lawyer in Kensington California, he continued to take good care of the car and took it on car cruises occasionally. While in his care the car received a respray, new transmission, full suspension rebuild and a multitude of other services (have receipts in excess of 9,000 dollars for the services during his ownership). When the car failed a smog due to a cylinder misfire he put it up for sale. When I bought it I had it taken straight to a Jaguar specialist here in San Diego and had the following done. I had the window switches all replaced except one, the expansion tank was replaced, belts, the head was removed, valves all replaced, valve guide upgrade kit (most Xj's haven't had it done which can be quite bad for the motor!), new head gasket, coolant flush, valve cover gaskets and a multitude of other things. Needless to say when the car went in for the smog it passed without a hitch. Both gas tanks work impeccably along with the gauges, the suspension is tight and rattle free, the body is very straight (even the valances which usually look pretty rough after 30 years of high curbs), chrome is immaculate and complete, under hood is tidy and impressive, electric antenna works perfectly along with the factory radio and to drive it is an absolute pleasure. The rocker panels are immaculate. It does have some issues at the moment: The remaining window switch will need replacing as the passenger window is sometimes non operable (very easy fix with ebay selling these at 20 dollars), digital clock does not tell time properly, there's some very small rust around the cowls, it has an exhaust leak that has developed and the seats will need recovering. Also the car needs a good buffing and wax as it has been a few months since we have done that. Overall it is a clean and reliable car with as many miles as a 4 year old car. All service records are here. I just paid 2600 dollars for a top end rebuild on the motor which means if you buy this one, You wont have to. When it comes to Jags ALWAYS ASK FOR SERVICE HISTORY!!! My family owns two of these and the other one is getting a full restoration so this one must go. Happy bidding and ask questions if you should need clarification!!! Shipping is possible but will need to be arranged and paid for by the buyer. 400 dollar deposit due in 24 hours. Cheers!
