Vehicle Detail

1949 Triumph 2000 Roadster Serial Number TRA .1. The First Triumph 2000 built !! 1949 Triumph 2000 Roadster Serial Number TRA .1. This is the first Triumph 2000 roadster built. This car is unrestored but is in good original condition for its age and is very complete. The only known part missing is the air cleaner. All of the original tools are included. The body and rear fenders are WW II British aircraft aluminum alloy in very good condition. There are a couple of very small dents but no corrosion. The wood body framing is in good condition. The front fenders are very heavy steel with no dents or rust. This car is a very good choice for a full up show quality restoration since it is indeed S/N TRA .1. (The first Triumph 2000 built). The engine is not currently running. This car has been in dry storage for many years. I had it running about 2 years ago for a very short time. It should have the oil pan cleaned of the old oil and gunk, hoses replaced, new ignition parts installed and fluids changed before it is run again. There is an engine rebuild tag on the engine. It is currently fitted with an aftermarket weber carburetor. The original Solex carburetor is included but is in need of repair. The odometer shows 79094 miles but I have no way of knowing if it is the correct mileage. The car comes with the following spares:New in the box fender mirrors (excellent new condition)New in the box rear view mirror (excellent new condition)New dizzy cap, rotor and pointsSome new gasketsNew brake seals (complete set) History - The first Triumph Roadster club member to own this car was Fred Reader of Walton-on Thames Surrey. It was then sold to Gerry Jenkins in Coulsdon, Surrey at which time it was British Racing Green. Mr Jenkins sold the car when he moved to Saudi-Arabia. It was owned by at least two others in the UK before it was sold to Peter Cappucilli of Waren R.I. USA. It was then sold to Phillip Martin of Taunton Massachusetts, USA in 1977. In 1978 it was sold to H and H Motors of Baltimore Maryland. In 1982 Mr Roger Brown of Baltimore went to the public sale at H and H motors (now bankrupt) to buy a rake and came home with the Triumph. In 2007 I bought the car from Mr, Roger Brown. Commission Number TRA .1. - The vehicle data plate shows this car to be commission numberTRA .1. (see the picture). I have a letter dated Nov. 1977 from the Triumph Roadster Club secretary Mr. R.A. Fitsall of Surrey, UK to Phillip Martin (a previous owner in 1978) that says that this car was indeed the first Triumph 2000 built. I have lots of other documentation that shown this car to be Serial Number TRA 1.1 including:Copy of Massachusetts Title dated May 1977 showing S/N TRA .1.Copy of Maryland Title dated May 1982 showing S/N TRA .1.Auction receipt dated May 1982 showing S/N TRA .1.Bill of sale Dated March 2007 showing S/N TRA .1.Two UK vehicle registration "round" window registration stickers dated 1971 and 1972 with registration numbers that likely could be traced back to S/N TRA .1.Letter from the Triumph Roadster Club to the previous owner Roger Brown dated Aug 1998 showing the history of this car as far back as the 1970'sTitle - Although this car is free from any leans or encumbrances and I have copies of several titles, bills of sale and auction receipts, I do not have a transferable title to this car. I can provide a notorized bill of sale to the buyer. Shipping to anywhere in the USA or abroad can be arranged.
