My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next vehicle through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of buying a vehicle. I specialize in offering vehicles traded at larger dealerships...as-traded...directly to the public. I personally road test each unit so I can give my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind as you read this description that I am neither a mechanic nor do I operate a full service facility. Please take the time to read this entire description, read my terms & conditions and review each of the photos carefully BEFORE asking questions and BEFORE placing a bid. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 2004 Ford Explorer 4WD. This vehicle comes in as a NEW CAR TRADE from a local multi-franchise dealership. I would rate the exterior condition of this vehicle as AVERAGE for the age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking truck. The tan finish shines well and looks good from any angle. Of course, this is a used vehicle with mileage in excess of 100k so please expect to see some signs of typical wear like small scratches and scuffs associated with daily use. There is a small crack on the plastic at the tail gate which is common with the Explorer/Mountaineer. All of the glass and lenses appear to be intact. The alloy wheels look good and are wrapped in matching rubber with average tread. I would rate the interior condition of this Explorer to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for the age and mileage of this unit. The door panels are clean and intact. The carpets show minor wear expected for an older vehicle but present well. The headliner is clean and intact. The seats are comfortable and show well throughout. The cargo area is clean and spacious. The dash is clean and free of cracks. The power windows, locks and mirrors work properly. The stereo is the original equipment and works/sounds good. The climate control system is working properly. The air conditioner blows ice cold air, too. The drivers visor clip is broken. Mechanically, this Explorer is in need of some attention. It is equipped with the 4.0L V6 engine which starts easily and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. The suspension feels good all around. The steering is neutral and responsive. The brakes do a good job of stopping this vehicle. The engine keeps proper temperature and good oil pressure at all times. The problem this vehicle has is in the transmission which is common with Explorers. The transmission engages smoothly and does not slip. It sometimes shifts late and/or harder than it should. Sometimes it shifts normally. Sometimes it will not go into overdrive...other times it will. From what I've read, it seems like the problem is in the soleniods or computer. It is also possible that it is the transmission itself. According to my mechanic, there were several codes stored in the computer (no, I don't have them all). He was too busy to really dig into it. To avoid getting ripped off, you should have an honest mechanic who is very strong in diagnostics...not your average idiot with a scan tool who will automatically tell you to replace the transmission b/c he doesn't have the proper skills to accurately diagnose the problem. I see this happen all the time. The fact the the problems are intermittent leads me to believe that the transmission does not need to be replaced. The transmission simply does what it's told to do by the computer which controls the solenoids which control fluid pressure/direction and makes the transmission work. The 4Wd system is tested and working properly. Out on the highway, she tracks strait with no complaints. Again, this vehicle will need work by a qualified technician (which are VERY hard to find these days). Please know what you're getting into. Talk to your mechanic first...see what he says. See if he has specific knowledge of this vehicle/transmission. Check the forums, ect. There is a ton of valuable information out there from people who have dealt with this same issue successfully and people who have gotten ripped off by garages. I am always honest with what I sell. I want the buyer to be fully aware of what they're buying. You can get in this truck and drive it anywhere as of right now. Payments made by wire transfer, check (cashiers or personal), or money order will be subject to verification of funds by my bank. The vehicle and title will be held until all funds have been cleared by my bank and made available for withdraw. Paypal is accepted for the initial deposit only...not the balance. Any vehicle left longer than 14 days without arrangements being made prior to the end of the auction will be subject to a storage fee of $5/day. Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next vehicle through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of buying a vehicle. I specialize in offering vehicles traded at larger dealerships...as-traded...directly to the public. I personally road test each unit so I can give my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind as you read this description that I am neither a mechanic nor do I operate a full service facility. Please take the time to read this entire description, read my terms & conditions and review each of the photos carefully BEFORE asking questions and BEFORE placing a bid. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.
Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 2004 Ford Explorer 4WD. This vehicle comes in as a NEW CAR TRADE from a local multi-franchise dealership. I would rate the exterior condition of this vehicle as AVERAGE for the age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking truck. The tan finish shines well and looks good from any angle. Of course, this is a used vehicle with mileage in excess of 100k so please expect to see some signs of typical wear like small scratches and scuffs associated with daily use. There is a small crack on the plastic at the tail gate which is common with the Explorer/Mountaineer. All of the glass and lenses appear to be intact. The alloy wheels look good and are wrapped in matching rubber with average tread.
I would rate the interior condition of this Explorer to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for the age and mileage of this unit. The door panels are clean and intact. The carpets show minor wear expected for an older vehicle but present well. The headliner is clean and intact. The seats are comfortable and show well throughout. The cargo area is clean and spacious. The dash is clean and free of cracks. The power windows, locks and mirrors work properly. The stereo is the original equipment and works/sounds good. The climate control system is working properly. The air conditioner blows ice cold air, too. The drivers visor clip is broken.
Mechanically, this Explorer is in need of some attention. It is equipped with the 4.0L V6 engine which starts easily and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. The suspension feels good all around. The steering is neutral and responsive. The brakes do a good job of stopping this vehicle. The engine keeps proper temperature and good oil pressure at all times. The problem this vehicle has is in the transmission which is common with Explorers. The transmission engages smoothly and does not slip. It sometimes shifts late and/or harder than it should. Sometimes it shifts normally. Sometimes it will not go into overdrive...other times it will. From what I've read, it seems like the problem is in the soleniods or computer. It is also possible that it is the transmission itself. According to my mechanic, there were several codes stored in the computer (no, I don't have them all). He was too busy to really dig into it. To avoid getting ripped off, you should have an honest mechanic who is very strong in diagnostics...not your average idiot with a scan tool who will automatically tell you to replace the transmission b/c he doesn't have the proper skills to accurately diagnose the problem. I see this happen all the time. The fact the the problems are intermittent leads me to believe that the transmission does not need to be replaced. The transmission simply does what it's told to do by the computer which controls the solenoids which control fluid pressure/direction and makes the transmission work. The 4Wd system is tested and working properly. Out on the highway, she tracks strait with no complaints. Again, this vehicle will need work by a qualified technician (which are VERY hard to find these days). Please know what you're getting into. Talk to your mechanic first...see what he says. See if he has specific knowledge of this vehicle/transmission. Check the forums, ect. There is a ton of valuable information out there from people who have dealt with this same issue successfully and people who have gotten ripped off by garages. I am always honest with what I sell. I want the buyer to be fully aware of what they're buying. You can get in this truck and drive it anywhere as of right now. Vehicle Pick-up:
Arrangements must be made in advance to pick up a vehicle. We do not have regular hours, we operate by-appointment. We are very flexible and accomidating with days and times to pick-up, but must have advance notice or there is a very real possibility you may show up and no one is here.
Accepted Payment Methods:
Vehicle will be immediately available for pick up if paid by cash in person. Payments made by wire transfer, check (cashiers or personal), or money order will be subject to verification of funds by my bank. The vehicle and title will be held until all funds have been cleared by my bank and made available for withdraw.
Paypal is accepted for the initial deposit only...not the balance. This includes Bill Me Later.
All vehicles shall be removed within 14 days of auction's end. Any vehicle left longer than 14 days without arrangements being made prior to the end of the auction will be subject to a storage fee of $5/day.
Bid Retractions/Changes:
I take selling vehicles on eBay very seriously. In the event of any bid retraction or bid change, it shall be the right of the seller to honor or not honor the outcome of the auction. This descision will be made at the sole discretion of the seller and can be made at any time while the auction is live or after the auction closes regardless of any circumstance. Additionally, any member who changes or withdraws a bid may be permanently barred from bidding on future auctions.
The seller may, at its sole discretion and for any reason deemed appropriate, cancel any bid or restrict any member from bidding on current and future auctions.
By placing a bid on any of our auctions, each bidder asserts that they have read and agree to our entire terms & conditions as well as eBay's terms & conditions. Additionally, each bidder enters into a binding contract to purchase the item they are bidding on should they be the successful bidder. Fee and Tax Information: The only fee added by the seller is our $149 administrative fee. This is used to isolate our fixed expenses such as eBay fees, transportation, processing, ect., and is not applied to any transfer costs incurred by the purchaser. The purchaser is responsible for any and all costs associated with transfer of ownership including, but not limited to: registration, sales tax, tags (including temp or in-transit tags), title transfer, inspection, and transportation expenses.
