Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 2 owner number matching 20th Edition Turbo Trans Am. This Florida car has been in storage for over 15 years. The car had starting issues when hot (possibly a bad ignition switch/wirng thru firewall shorting when hot) when the owner stopped driving it and parked it. The rear pulldown hatch (cadillac style) is broken. The steering column is broken. The dash behind the map pocket on the passengers side has had a piece of the plastic cut out. The factory radio is disconnected but installed. The car has not been started in over 12 years, and it hasn't been moved in 8 years. The transmission and torque converter were rebuilt at around 65000 miles. At 105000 miles the plastic teeth on the timing chain broke and as a result, it bend some valves in the heads. Sunset Pontiac dealership in Clearwater rebuilt the heads and a mild ATR camshaft was installed. The dealership recommended the crankshaft be removed and polished and new bearings installed at this time. After the work was completed, low oil pressure was observed and the dealership determined that the steel crank got bent at the machine shop. The dealership then installed a brand new factory crankshaft and bearings. The engine ran strong with no issues prior to being placed into storage. The owner was frustrated with the "no-start" issue when the car was hot. If it sat for 20 minutes it started fine. The dealership at the time could not figure out the problem. New starters were installed, heat shields installed, new power cable w/fusable links installed, but nothing would fix the no-start problem except time. The right rear tire is flat and has a crack in teh sidewall and will not hold air. The car will need to be removed on a flatbed trailer. Before bidding, be sure you have shipping arrangements in place. Car is sold as-is. A $500.00 down payment is due within 48 hours of auction end. After final payment has cleared bank then the car title will be next day sent. Payment must be paid in full (cleared bank) prior to vehicle shipped. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. For general information about this rare you can find plenty of information on the internet. Compare to Buick Grand Nationals or GNX that were built for years. They only built 1555 of this 20TH Anniversary Edition of the Pontiac Trans.
