This is a rare classic collector car. Up for bid is this 1986 Volvo 240 / 244 DL 4 door sedan that I drove from Wilmington, PA. - Los Angles which had a fuel pump failure due to water in the gas. That issue has been resolved. This 1986 Volvo 240 series is what classic is all about for me and many others. Garage kept 90% of the time. This Volvo was meticulously rebuilt by three different people over a five year period. This Volvo has been garage kept 90% of the time. One man rebuilt the engine and another solved all the Volvo electrical issues of that period and model type by purchasing a new electrical harness which had the original design flaws corrected. He installed this harness correctly. The fact that this car came without electric windows is wonderful (those who have had this problem will appreciate this fact). Not many manual window models were shipped to the USA. For trivia, that’s where the electrical issues begin and then short out the other components in the car. Anyway, another fantastic modification was the installation of a 3 speed Toyota automatic transmission (yes, the two companies shared the same technology) which provides a quick pull out and a very good top end will cruise at highway speed. I drove it at 60-65 to maintain fuel and not get a ticket, but when I had to pass a truck going uphill in Colorado, it was no problem at 6300 feet to attain 75 MPH and pass the truck. Let’s see, well, most every part has been replaced including the radiator and hoses and belts, and filters. The only issue I had was in Nevada I bought fuel with water in it. I had the complete fuel system replaced including the pump in the tank and the primary pump under the chassis. The fuel filter and the fuel regulator have also been replaced. One item I was pleased to find in the car is an arm rest between the driver and passenger seat. Again, very rare and every single light works. In summary, here on this EBay auction is one 1986 Volvo 240 /242 DL Classic Swedish car with an engine having approx. 9,000 miles, and so does the 3 speed automatic transmission. The body has approx. 136K miles showing on the odometer which stopped recording the mileage when the transmission was switched out. The speedometer does function correctly however. It may be the O ring fitting that has flatted out causing the odometer to not record. A very minor and inexpensive repair which will become the responsibility of the next owner. Other than that tiny item, this is an 1986 Volvo 240 /242 DL with a perfectly clean title and no damage. All doors latches have been replaced as well. This 1986 Volvo is parked at my friend’s house in Hollywood, California as he finished replacing the complete fuel system replacement job, and rebooted the Volvo factory direct computer. I am currently in Fairbanks, Alaska finishing a project before the cold and snow arrive. I decided that driving this Volvo from LA to Fairbanks was just too much on my body and mind so I flew there. This Volvo is being sold locally in LA and can be seen and inspected there should you want to do that first. This auction will be for one 1986 Volvo 240/242 DL Series 4 door sedan, exterior color is beige / tan with the same color interior. Wheels are original Volvo air flow with four disc brakes. The new Pioneer radio and all new speakers are installed, but I disconnected the wire harness to the radio as I wanted to hear the car as I drove. The radio is a CD player which sounds real good in this Volvo sedan. This car will auctioned on EBAY without a Reserve price set, and since I am also listing and selling this car locally I retain my right to end this auction should someone buy it from the sign I am putting on it tomorrow morning here in Los Angles. I have many years of experience with the Volvo 240 Series having completely rebuilt four, and they are not for sale at this time. Additionally to any and all bidders. Volvo 240 series parts are becoming near impossible to find on the open market. This is not a common car, nor is a Volvo 240 sedan for just anyone. You will discover that most mechanics will not work on a Volvo due to their lack of knowledge on this spectacular car. Here you are getting a car that will probably provide you with 0ver 150K miles as long as you change the oil and filter every 3000-4000 miles using 10-40 weight oil. Also, The license plate tags on the car are my personal property registered with the State of Florida. These are my Disabled Veterans Tags with the handicapped wheelchair logo.
