Read carefully. This is a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup aka "Caddy" that is titled and registered as a DIESEL but currently has a 1.7L GAS engine in it. I have the 1.6L diesel engine and can include that for an extra $700.00. No major issues. It's in great shape for a truck it's age, there aren't many more of these on the roads, and are becoming very collectible. Engine runs great once it warms up but could use a restoration. As is, runs reliable and cool all day long. Just drove 150 miles, some in stop and go traffic in 90+ heat with no issues. Replaced front suspension components, alternator, seats, battery, and a full tuneup. Dents on the rear sides near the tail gate. Tailgate lock is broken so it does not open. Needs interior work, but has newer comfortable seats and is comfortable as is. Side vent windows need repair, they do not open at the moment without the glass falling out, this is a common issue with rabbits. Climate controls are missing and it blows a gentle warm air once it warms up. Speaking of the gas situation, the fuel level indicator never goes 100% full but a little over half full. Otherwise it seems to display a trustworthy indication of when you're running out of gas. Lots of other quirks to mention, but as I said, it's been a happy reliable little truck that I gets looks and is a awesome candidate for a project, since it's registered diesel it's exempt from regulation and can be modified to your liking.
