Vehicle Detail
This German-engineered sports coupe has been my everyday driver for the past twelve-plus years, purchased from the original owner in the Fall of '99. It's the third Corrado I've owned; the first two were G60's, this silver bullet has the VR6 motor (O.K., I'm the guy with the Corrado "Jones": each time I've parted company with these VW's, I've experienced a serious case of seller's remorse). I would describe it's mechanical condition as excellent, and cosmetically very good inside and out. Ninety percent of the maintenance on this vehicle has been done at either of the three Volkswagen dealerships in the Hartford, CT area where I live, by ASE certified mechanics. Repairs in 2012 are: new front suspension - both lower control arms, front strut assemblies and mounts, left CV joint replaced (January); in April, rear brakes (replaced brake pads and rotors, replaced rear bearing seals, replaced rear calipers, braking system bled); and in June, new windshield (thanks Autolite!). I say "...silver bullet..." because the motor was rebuilt in 2007 (see photo), at that time bored out a bit, so this engine's displacement exceeds the standard 2.8 liters. Otherwise, I've kept the car as stock as possible. This car has been adult-driven (non-smoker), never raced and never been in an accident. Bridgestone Potenza tires have only about 4500 miles on 'em; extras include two mounted snow tires and genuine Volkswagen 4-piece rubber floor mat set (see pix). Some minor dings, some flaking around perimeter of power mirrors - nothing unusual for a car of this vintage. Two words describe my attitude towards this V-dub's upkeep: very diligent. All service records available for your perusal. Please look at ads for other Corrados out there nationwide; you'll read phrases like "all major systems working... nonfunctioning items: sunroof, air conditioning" or "needs passenger side door latch" etc. This vehicle needs nothing; everything operates like it did when driven off the showroom floor (yes, both door handles/latches were replaced in recent years, and AC blows colder than my '99 Porsche!). Then, come inspect and test-drive this sports coupe; you won't be disappointed. Why am I selling? I've spent thousands in keeping this car tight and roadworthy; it's just time to recoup a portion of my investment (and get a vehicle produced in the current decade). A few refurbishments will make this car show-worthy... I'm guessing you're already a Volkswagen enthusiast (because you're reading this) - time to grab a chunk of true German fahrvergnugen ?
