The Porsche 912's were built between the years of 1965 and 1969. After a six-year absence, the 912 was re-introduced to North America as the 1976 model year 912E which shared the bodywork with the 911S. The 912E was powered by an 86 bhp 2.0 L Volkswagen air-cooled engine, refined with a new Bosch L-Jetronic (Air Flow Controlled) fuel injection system. The 912E ("E" for Einspritzung; or fuel injection) occupied the entry-level position left vacant by the discontinuation of the 914. During the production run of May 1975 to July 1976, Porsche manufactured 2,099 of the 912E, targeted to the United States market, and is said that there are around 1000 or less of them still remaining! It is loaded with great information on these cars! http://www.porsche912e.com/index.html As for this specifc 912E, I have many service records for the car including when the transmission and engine had been rebuilt approximately 60,000 miles ago. The car drives great and really is a LOT of fun! It is not perfect by any means but the car is mechanically sound and I still feel very comfortable taking it on roadtrips. Other than both driver and passenger seat covers, the red interior is in wonderful condition. The original tool kit is with the car and all the numbers match!
