Vehicle Detail

You will love this Westy No Reserve Auction, so you can own it for sure. Long ad so read to the very end for good info and more details. ...Ok, you didn't like my reserve price so let's go with NO RESERVE !!!! Far Out ! ...1980 Westfalia Campmobile and it is ready as is...I know you will have a million tiny things to do on this camper, but it is really ready to go today...I bought it in Albuquerque NM and was fixing it up for myself and the wife. She is a retired school teacher and I am a hippie at heart....but no go...she and I are "too old for such things"...nice little van...many new items and extras as you will see in my list. Many photos and will make more on your request...runs well and goes 55/60 easily...also does about 35 up hills in NM and CO, but you knew that...pop top, awning, reversing front seats, fridge, sink, etc etc...has air cooled engine, 4 speed tranny, nice radio and speakers (need attention!) ODO says 100,4?? but is inop so I am quessing 150k plus. Runs nice and tight so who knows. Things done to the van: New fuel tank, New tires, oil change and services (few times to be sure), general cleaning (I used the water hose and leaf blower to prep for the photos today), bumpers painted black, new fixtures for water, water tank and electric...spare mounted under nose now...does not leak rain...does leak a bit of oil, but should be gasket only. Things that go with van: matching chairs, porto pottie, dishes (with bus emblems), silverware (with bus emblems), sleeping bag, towel, blanket, folding trash can, portable cooler, awning, new bumper ends (not fitted, but in van), new pop top canvas (still in box), used propane tank (still in box), extra handles and this and that...too much to list? All this stuff is new or in good condition. Add beer, ice, water and your squeeze and head for the hills! The pop up canvas is useable, but not great. So new one goes with the deal. Still in the box so you can put it in or use the old one with some sail tape repairs. Have driven the van from ABQ to Farmington and Durango several times. Have had lots of wind on both sides and the nose...it performs as you remember...slow uphill and to windward...fast downhill and with a tail wind...brought to Texas on a two wheel car dolly to save time...my home is here, you see. Needs: Someone who loves these little demons...carpet shampoo...parts installed that are in bus...camping trips and kids yelling to make it feel like home again. If you have read this far you already know it has a double upstairs and a double downstairs. All cushions are in good condition and the bunk upstairs is really clean. Magnetic screens for both front windows and even a huge furnace...guess the ABQ guy was a winter time fellow...he removed the underbody propane tank in favor of a larger outside one...NOT sure if any of the appliances work, but things look in order. Stove hardly used and new faucet for sink...did I mention it is slow...ha. Some very small rust and one very LARGE dent in the bow. It is on the passenger side and was bondoed over before the newish paint...ugh...but easy to pull out and redo or just put a bra over it...I considered painting the front shell in flat black for a statement... Ok...enough...now go bid or set up your sniper...I must sell or the school marm may take aim at my Land Rover...!!! yikes. I would have no problem driving the van from Kemah TX to anywhere in the US. Runs well but could always use a tune up...which one doesn't...Wolfsburg wheel covers...haven't seen many of those around. If you live nearby, please come and look and play with the toys...if far off, send an inspector or take my very solid word for it....much feedback and have done cars for 40 years or so. 1980 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile...ugly but beautiful...remember it is over 30 and I am sure you are too ! PS...my last VW bus was 1968 and died a noble death in 1974 after pulling all my belongings in a trailer from Texas to Kansas...got a ticket near Wichita for going 'too slow' on a highway....go figure...but that's another story. Bid, win, enjoy....if anything is not as I describe, your money cheerfully refunded....if you are too picky then just move on...I am an old guy who enjoys cars and likes to tinker...my expectations are not in line with the new BMW for old car prices...get it? This little bus is nice and cool and gets looks and gives good vibes and is a blast from the past and is going up in value and will go get groceries and will be the same next year and will always be a VW Westfalia ! now smile. NOTE: I can deliver near Houston TX if needed after you win the van. Also, I made the picture of the engine without washing or detailing it...feel you should see the real thing...you can make it pretty later... NOTE TWO: did a shade tree tune up and it runs even faster !... relatively... Seems I just keep coming up with more info...ran the van 30 miles today and all was fine. Radio now plays wells and she has had a bath and a blow dry...keep smiling.
