Vehicle Detail
Very rare 260Z 2+2 (four seats).Has not been started since 2008, last driven in 2006. Nothing broken - just did not register and stopped driving it.A good restore project - everything is still there. 2nd Owner (purchased 1985)Original owner purchased in England while in the Air Force, probably through the Army-Air Force Exchange. There is some rust on the rocker panels and rear fender wells on both sides, not extensive. No rust anywhere else (desert car).Engine # L24-165159 indicates it may be from a 240Z. I didn't replace the engine and don't think the original owner did either. 260Z's were only made for 1/2 year; they are a mixed bag as I have found when buying some parts. Transmission rebuild less than 25,000 milesNew master brake cylinder, rebuilt brake master vacuum, brake pads, rear drums & shoes good shapeRecords & manuals come with the carComes with all original parts removed by modifications including branding emblemsOriginal jack, tire changing hardware, radioRan smooth & strong, good compression, no problems when last driven in 2006Never in an accident / collision / fender bender.Fun to drive - superior handling saved me more than once from bad drivers 2+2 Features:4 seatsLonger wheel base - rides smoother than the two seatersDifferential is geared slightly lower than the two-seater - good accelerationAutomatic transmission (typical of the 2+2) Modifications from original:Dual sun roof.Air dam - fiberglassWhale tail - fiberglassHood scope - with functional airTwin Weber DGV5A downdraft carbs (Original SU carbs included, worked OK)Air conditioning (works very well) may have been dealer installed, I upgraded compressorFlex fan (original plastic clutch fan not well suited for hot desert)Transmission cooler (this really improved the engine cooling)Removed mechanical fuel pump, replaced electrical pump with one that does the job with no vapor lock. Anti-theft switch for fuel pumpBattery cables bolt onRed leather interior (door sides and front seats badly worn)Carpet - custom fit, needs replacedBlack on black (original color green with tan interior) Problems:Engine last started in 2006. Have read what it takes to prepare for running again, not major work but cleaning the fuel path sounds like a pain, drain all fluids, flush, wet cylinders with mystery oil, etc.Oil pan gasket: front & rear seal wornOriginal struts, but no problems with suspensionCrack across windshieldDriver's door hard to close, but latches OKLarge cracks / separations in dashboard.Rubber seals deteriorated (hatch, doors, etc.)Desert is good for metal but bad for rubber: many hoses should be replaced. I look at other old cars on e-bay and see rust everywhere. I think the exhaust on this car is original. Lot of classic cars in Vegas, no moisture is good.Small dents in front bumper, missing rubberRoof liner fallingWheels are smaller than original, one missing (using spare)Side mirror, driver's side missingRadio antenna brokenFuel door needs workOverflow hose on gas tank needs replacedExterior needs paint, trimInterior very rough, needs a lot of work, but all functional BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR VEHICLE PICKUP AND SHIPPING.THE CAR IS BEING SOLD "AS IS" AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY WARRANTIES NOR DOES ANYTHING SOLD WITH THE CAR.
