Vehicle Detail
Relisting due to a local buyer who backed out last minute. No trades!!! Now thats out of the way, up for auction is a 1949 Ford tudor sedan done as a mild custom. I have owned this car for a short time and did not build it, but have put 3000 trouble free miles on it since I have acquired it, it appears to be an older frame-on restoration, so I'll tell you what I know: 239 Flathead V8, Offenhauser heads, Offenhauser intake, Holley 4 barrel carb, headers with dual exhaust and Cherry Bombs. Engine has been bored .030" over by previous owner. New aluminum radiator with new belts and hoses, motor never gets over 190* even in hot traffic. Delco distributor with Pertronix electronic ignition converted for flathead by Linder Technical Services in Indiana. Engine runs smooth and does not use or burn oil, it has an aftermarket 10 gallon fuel tank installed. The only negative is the electronic choke quit working a couple weeks ago, so you have to hold it at a few RPM's for a minute until it will idle out steady on its own, not a big deal. Smooth shifting 3 speed on the column with the desireable overdrive; new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bushing. Aftermarket drop spindles and steering linkages (appears to be either a Fatman or Jamco) with lowering blocks in the rear. Power disc brakes in front with drums rear, car also has sway bars front and rear with original manual steering so eat your Wheaties. Tires are Coker radial whitewalls with plenty of tread remaining. Converted to 12V electrical, 1 wire alternator, aftermarket glass dash with Classic Instruments vintage series gauges; speedo, tach, oil pressure, volts, fuel level, and temp gauge on each head. All gauges work. New Sony head unit and speakers, nice Grant banjo steering wheel. Speedo shows 16,XXX miles. Body is in very good shape, with black base/clear with hand painted pinstriping and graphics. There are a couple spots of paint bubbling on the lower doors and rockers, the underside of the car is solid, the floors, toe boards and trunk are in great shape and have no holes or patches. There is a small 1 1/2" hole on the passenger side inner rocker. If I had to guess, I would say this car has been repainted in the last 10 years or so. The doors open and close solid, there is no latch for the trunk but there is an electonic trunk release in the car. There are also no keys for the door locks, there are however electronic locks on the doors that can be locked/unlocked by buttons hidden between the grill bars. Interior is vinyl with no holes or rips, the carpet and headliner are in fantastic shape. The original Ford script windows have been tinted and roll up and down fine. The chrome on this car is in great shape, too nice to have not been rechromed in the past, spots are dummies. I'm sure I have forgotten some things so any questions please ask. All in all, this is a good solid shoebox that cruises modern freeway speeds with ease, it is not a show winner but is very presentable as is. I have described this car to the best of my abilities, it has proven to be a nice reliable car for me, but to own a car like this requires automotive knowledge beyond being able to check your oil, sorry but thats just how it is. This car always gets compliments and thumbs up wherever it goes. As with any 60+ year old car, there is no warranty written or implied.
