Vehicle Detail

What you have here is pristine sample of a 1979 Ford Pinto Cruising Wagon. This is the second to last year of the Ford Pinto and the cruising wagon option. Built in the Metuchen Ford assembly plant, but has spent the majority of its life in California (Southern & Northern). This is a fully optioned wagon with a 2.3L 4 cylinder engine, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, air conditioned (needs freon retrofit kit), interval wipers, map light, rear cargo light, rear window defroster, the driver’s side seat lift or riser. It is clad in the original white paint and only the strips and black exterior paint redone. The bumpers, grill, emblems, antenna, and front window trim have all been blacked out. The engine is a lower mileage engine that has passed CA smog tests at the lowest of all ranges as well twice in the past year. Transmission works great and was just serviced. Rear end fluids just replaced with synthetic gear oil. New Timing belt, and all the other belts, hoses, and radiator serviced. New Monroe gas shocks, brakes (including hardware), synthetic oil & filter, fuel and trans filters, rebuilt distributor & control unit, and full lube. I installed new transmission & engine mounts as well. It has era specific new BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires 205X60X13 (you can not find 13” raised white letter tires anywhere anymore), mounted on old school “Carroll Shelby” slotted type wheels with a 5th slotted wheel in the spare bay with no tire currently on it. I have an additional set of 5 pristine styled wheels with whitewall tires on them, 4 perfect trim rings, and center caps if you would prefer but if you want both sets then I’d need an additional $200 for them on a separate deal. The cruising option was a full package option, which included full instrumentation; GT wheel, higher rate springs (for handling), and the well recognized porthole side windowed panels & striping. I have also replaced all of the front end sway bar & radius arm bushings with polyurethane one’s, and rear leaf spring stiffener springs which makes this car handle the corners nicely, and flat as well! Anyone who has had one of these wagons despises the eventual demise of the interior carpeted panels; trim rings, and broken clips that occur over the span of its lifetime. The front carpet was recently replaced before I got it; the seats are all original and 99% flawless, and new door weather-stripping on the doors. I opted to make it have a customized two-tone interior of black/red. Two toned black and red accent to the doors, Faux black leather interior panels, modern black headliner (very tactfully done), as well as the 4’ limo type red led subtle lighting strips above the side panels. It has a new black dash cap installed over the existing sun cracked padded dash that occurs on most older cars. This is not only a four-seated wagon but also when you fold down the back seat sleeps two comfortably within its plush inside with subtle lighting. It has a factory style AM/FM radio with updated speakers under the factory door grills. The speakers in the back are mounted to brackets that merely slide in-between the interior panels through the seat belt holes, so there has been no slicing or dicing done on this car. DISCLAIMER: If you like to get takeout food or similar and are a polite type of person then you might not want this car because when you finally make it back home your food will be cold. Everywhere I drive this to I come outside finding it surrounded by people and every single one of them has a Pinto story that they want to share with you. There is no warranty expressed written or implied with this car and the buyer assumes all the costs/fees to transport the vehicle. I will assist in the smooth transaction of described shipping process if needed. You could also fly right into San Jose, CA airport and drive it anywhere, safely, to your point of origin. The winning bidder must pay 25% down within 24 hours of the auction close and the remaining 75% within 5 days of close. Any deviation from these terms must be discussed and approved by me (the seller) prior to close. I also have this for sale locally with a price tag more than any current bid on a Pinto Wagon on eBay so I reserve the right to end the auction early. If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call between 4:00PM – 12:00 AM PST at (408) 866-1279 Paul.
