Vehicle Detail

What are you bidding on a very clean, non-molested, rust-free 1974 first generation Z. Original paint. If you notice we have not tried to hide anything. Some others have looked good but others have rust problems. The A/C is cold. The car shifts great, sounds great, and runs well. Could use a tune up in the future. Please feel free to message us with any questions AND OFFERS as we are always available online and we'll speak to you on the telephone. If you are interested in this car, you can message us for our phone number and we will be glad to give it to you. Please no international bidders. All international bids will be canceled. U.S. bidders only. Thanks for looking! The Datsun 240Z (built between 1969-73) was voted by 'Sports Car International' the number two car on the list of the 'Top Sports Cars of the 1970's'! One of the most appealing Japanese cars ever produced, unfortunately they have largely disappeared from the roads almost entirely due to insurmountable rust issues of all the Japanese cars of this era. The first Japanese cars with definite milestone status with looks that took its cues from the best of the sixties, some E-Type, some 911, some Aston Martin DBS yet still an original and now becoming as collectible as the extremely rare Toyota 2000GT. The hot selling Datsun Z-car commands a large and fanatical following. It was a sensation when it hit the market at the astoundingly low price of $3,526 base price with a combination of style, performance and equipment that sent auto buyers into gales of praise and buyers streaming into Datsun showrooms. This particular model was sold in the United States for the 1974 model year only and is known as the 'Interim Edition' (although it was available in other countries until 1978). The engine was enlarged over that of the 240Z with a longer stroke to 2.6 L. A 3-speed automatic was an option and the 4-speed manual remained standard. 1974 brought for the first time to the S30 line a new 2+2 seating option, which offered room for 4 passengers and an extra 11.9 in (302 mm) of wheelbase. These cars have a notably different roofline from the two seat coupes, incorporating larger opening quarter panel windows and are way less desirable amongst enthusiasts than this shorter and more sporty two seat coupe version. The 260Z claimed a few updates or improvements over the 240Z. The climate controls were more sensibly laid out and easier to work and those cars with air conditioning now had the A/C system integrated into the main climate control panel. There was also additional stiffness in the chassis due to a redesign of the chassis rails which were larger and extended further back than previous models. A Rear sway bar was added as well. The 260Z debuted a redesigned dashboard and console as well as new seat trim and door panels for the interior. The rear tail lights were updated, moving the reverse lights from the main tail light housing to the back panel. Early 1974 U.S. 260Z models, such as this example, had bumpers that resembled those of the earlier 240Z, although increased slightly in size, they were pushed away from the body and had black rubber bumper guards rather that the previous chrome bumper guards with rubber strips. These early cars, such as this particular example, still boasted the front turn signals located below the bumpers and are the most collectible. Late 1974 U.S. 260Z models (often referred to as 1974.5 models) carried the heavier bumpers that would remain on the 1975-76 model years of the 280Z. These late cars had the front turn signals relocated to the outer edges of the front grill, above the bumper. This is a rare opportunity to own a very rare and internationally desirable early 1974 legendary Datsun 260 Z 2 Seat coupe Model.
