Vehicle Detail

A little history first. I am only the third owner of this car. The original owner kept this car in his garage on a farm in Virginia until 2006 when he passed away. His son who builds and restores custom cars of all types took ownership and kept it under a tarp in the garage until 2007. The day he put it out front by road with a for sale sign on it I snatched it up. The body was in good shape but the paint was dull (it hadn’t seen polish in many years) but there was no rust to be found, the head liner was yellowed from age and cigarettes and the carpets and seats were… well they were nothing to put in Hot VW but they were still serviceable. Since 2007 I have been little by little trying to make this a daily driver and possibly a show car. I recently got married and my priorities have changed. If you can see the vision I had or have a vision of your own for a fantastic old classic then this car will make you proud. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. I WILL NOT TRY TO HIDE ANYTHING! If you are looking for a clean, customized and fun to drive beetle that runs great, then this bugs for you. The customizations on this Super are intense. Some of the features include: · A 26 gallon fuel cell behind speaker box (Fuel cell is located beneath a custom speaker box in the rear of the car) · Driver side fuel cap for easy fueling. · Mid-body stabilization bar (perfect for mounting body harness). · Custom made head liner. · New carpet in cabin and trunk. · Scat racing seats with 4 point body harness. · Custom door panels with custom door and window handles. · California window package. · Tinted Windows. · Battery disconnect switch w/removable key. (Can’t start it… can’t steal it) · Custom aluminum alloy wheels with new performance tires. (Bigger tires in back for a "KEWL" look). · Upgraded to all wheel disk brakes. · Stock 1600cc engine. · A powerful stereo system tops it off. The stereo is a Boss detachable, remote operated 2 1/2" X 4" display that plays CD's, DVD's mp3's AM/ FM and Satellite. · Phoenix Gold 10" speakers and amps light up and will catch the envious eye of everyone plus two 6 in PG speakers under rear window. The engine is original and works great. One turn of the key and she cranks right up. The Clutch has been replaced. The transmission is original as far as I know but it works great. Just like any older vehicle, the engine uses a little more oil, but there are no major leaks. The exterior is the original VW Canary Yellow. There are a few paint cracks around the rear window areas where I had to weld for the fuel cell cage and vents. The fuel cage vents out through the rear passenger vent. There are only two spots near the rear runnels where there is any body rust (see pics). The rear paint will need some attention but is still serviceable. (A power buffer and rubbing compound will get the non-primed area back to sparkling). There is no rust in the battery compartment or floor boards. I have removed the door stops for ease of entry (doors open a full 90 degrees). The Volkswagen insignia on the back is bent from someone trying to steal it. I have installed the stereo and all of the wires are run but not connected to the amps. I just finished building the speaker box a few months ago and have not had time to reconnect everything. I have connected and tested everything outside the speaker boxes and will guarantee that it is in working order if professionally wired. The sound quality and clarity is better than some Bose systems I have heard. Interior looks fantastic with the yellow seats offset by the blue and yellow door panels (Door Panels will need some mounting brackets replaced) and matching speaker box. The carpet and headliner are new (5 months) and the seats are about a year old. The plastic seat belt guide loop on the driver’s seat where the body harness goes through the seat broke and is missing (I did not get a picture of this but I will send you one via email if requested). This does not affect the function of the seat or harness. The passenger sun visor clip is broke (I did not get a picture of this but I will send you one via email if requested). The sun visors are new as well. The seats are in great shape but they have been used as this was a weekend driver. I changed the oil and filters every 3 months, she gets a general tune up about once a year just to make sure this classic stays on the road. I have replaced all of the windows and seals except for the rear window (seal replaced.) The rear defroster still works fine. I have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, ignition switch, rotor and plugs. The carburetor was rebuilt in 2010. The windshield washer reservoir will need a new hose to the spray nozzles. I have not had a chance to get an alignment done on the car since converting to disk brakes and putting on new tires and wheels. The car has a very slight pull to the driver’s side and there is a shimmy on front driver’s side when you reach 40mph. Shimmy goes away at 41 mph. The dash board has some cracks from heat and age but it is still firm and solid. The car starts right up when used every day and as long as the fuel tank isn't low. The stock fuel gauge could not gauge the larger fuel tank so I have installed one that will work (see pic). I have not driven the car enough since I finished working on the new fuel tank to get an accurate estimation but I figure it gets about 25 MPG on the Highway and about 20MPG around town. That’s about 650 miles to a tank on highway and 520 miles in the city. NOT BAD! Like I have said before the car looks great and runs great. The windshield wipers work and so do the lights, turn signals and horn. Typical floor heat comes from the engine. Real miles are unknown on this vehicle and clear title states that. I am estimating that is about 124000. Tires are new in great shape (look at photo) but there is no spare tire as these are custom. The jack and some spare parts (Duct hoses, fuel filters, rear light covers and light cover rings are in the trunk. .
