PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING 2005 MINI COOPER S Dark metallic Grey exterior/Black leather Interior,Non smoker adult owned fully loaded power windows locks,cold a/c,panoramic roof,alpine stereo etc etc. 9 days ago i was driving on the freeway and i heard 1 loud clunk i ignored it drove home,Next morning i started the car and heard a consistent clunking noise from under the hood, I drove it in my subdivision the noise got less as i drove it,I took it on a small road outside my house took it up to 45 mph the car ran smooth but the clunking was still there no service engine light came on but check engine light did. I called a local MINI dealer and they told me to get it towed and it would cost $100 an hour for diagnosis and it would take minimum 4 hours.The following day on my lunch hour i went to a bmw dealer to see if they could help me since BMW makes MINI but the service manager told me he can help me by getting me a loaner vehicle but it needs to go to MINI,as i was leaving BMW a service technician came out and started talking to me long story short for $200 he came by and gave me a diagnosis and said i will need a new motor,He said he had a used one with 60k miles and with installation would cost me $1800 but needs to be done at his house.The following day i called Midas near my house a service tech offered to a mobile diagnosis for me for $100,His diagnosis the noise is coming from the lifters and would cost me $700 to repair and he could do it at his shop but would cost me more or he would do it at my house if i bought the parts. The reason i am sharing all this info is the fact that i a am not a car guy i just admire,maintain,gas and wash them.Me nor my wife have the time or patience to deal with going from place to place and i am not paying mini four hundred dollars plus towing.The second day this clunking started i sent a payoff check to my lienholder for $9000 and by the time this auction is over i should have my title. I am leasing a new vehicle this week and this one needs to go,Once again i do not know what is wrong with the car it could be something extremely minor or worst case scenario you would need a new motor which i can get you in touch with the bmw tech if you want to go that route. I have every service record for this vehicle oil changes services i put a new clutch in 10k miles ago i changed front control arms i have every receipt,still have original window sticker,also i had an extended warranty on the vehicle till a 100k miles,Due to my daily commute of 200 miles i racked up the miles. This has been a good car to me and now hopefully someone with more knowledge can make it a good car for themselves.
