This is a car you will actually drive and enjoy, rather than park as a garage queen because a nick or dent would ruin its value. The 1991 Acura NSX was the first so-called supercar from Japan, and put the Italians to shame with regard to engineering, reliability, durability, and even performance. Honda’s luxury brand was only a few years old, and the NSX gave the company not only a halo car, but also a means to showcase new technologies, like lightweight aluminum construction and variable valve timing (VTEC). This hot car (NSX = New Sports car eXperimental) not only featured a stunning look created by legendary Italian firm, Pininfarina (who still designs Ferraris), but engineers even went so far as to emulate the visibility from the cockpit of an F-16 fighter jet. The paint on it is beautiful, but not perfect. The headlamps work mechanically and electrically. The interior accessories all work, including the FM CASSETTE radio, and there is a 6-disc CD changer in the trunk. The window motors work but are slow, and the antenna motor makes a noise when the antenna retracts, but it DOES go up and down. It starts and runs well. The clutch take-up is firm and smooth, and it accelerates like a 270-horsepower car that weighs only 3k pounds should. With the mid-mounted engine right behind you, the engine makes a beautiful noise as it winds up (redline is 9k RPM!), and you can feel the power kick in when the variable valve timing adjusts the cam at around 4k RPM. Braking is solid, and the suspension and steering are still very precise. MAINTENANCE INFO: We have one key and one working key fob remote. There are no maintenance records, so we aren't sure when the major services were performed, and the proud new owner will likely want to perform a tune-up, as well.The fun factor when you are behind the wheel is priceless, and the car turns nearly every head it passes.
