Instead of the highly restricted and over electronic factory 5.9 Cummins it was converted to a Mechanical Diesel by using a lower mileage 1993 donor a Mechanical 12V 5.9 Diesel Cummins engine was transplanted. As you probably already know everything bolts right up without modification truck has factory bullet proof 2005 6 Speed 4x4 transmission. Ofcourse the great looks of a 2005 Dodge quad cab and more importantly the super rugged 2005 Dodge Frame with close square design instead of the C channel that they used in the early 90's.Unlimited possibilites for the right diesel expert as you can adjust and custom tune this engine extremely easy either for great power, incredible mpgs or even bio fuels or vegetable oils. We have read that some of this tuned engines can give upgards of 50mpg or 1000 hp and can also be run with straight vegetable oil. It was a project of ours that we completed and have greatly enjoyed. Tons of positives and just a couple of small details that still need to be worked out. Dash gauges are not conected to engine and we can not figure out how to wire the alternator correctly to charge battery. Of course the mechanical engine will runs for ever as long as it has diesel and the headlights do not stay on. Meaning you can drive it now for as long as you want until the lights are turned on and it drains the battery.The truck shows just over 200k miles the engine came out of a 1993 Truck with only 120k miles. The engine, transmission and 4 wheel drive system work great. Smokes black under heavy acceleration as all mechanical cummins do. No bad noises and a very good ride.
