Vehicle Detail

Hello! This is a very clean 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 (302 V8) Foxbody 25th Anniversary convertible. The car has original or original replacement parts, no modifications! The odometer shows 41,500 miles, but is 141,000. I am the second owner. This car was bought new at Rod Baker Ford in Plainfield, Il in 1989. The original owner passed away in late 2011. His son traded it back in to Rod Baker Ford on a new Mustang, and I purchased it from Rod Baker Ford in 11-2011. Title is clear and in my hand. When I bought it, the following work had just been done: New seats (can't tell if leather or vinyl; if vinyl, very high quality and soft); New top; new windshield; new factory exhaust with proper chrome tips. I have done the following: new heater core (excellent heat in winter, new antifreeze, blower works properly, no noises); new convertible top motor (works perfectly); new 16" chrome Pony wheels; new Goodyear tires; serviced the a/c (ice cold air, cools car very quickly!); new rear shocks (Foxbodys have 4 on rear), fronts work fine and do not need replaced; new mats; new gas tank; new fuel pump. Car starts every time. I drove it home from Chicago (160 miles) and would trust it to go anywhere. Starts right away, idles well, shifts perfectly. No noises, no smoke. Goes straight down the road. Brakes work properly. Interior is very clean; no rips in the seats, no cracks in dash or console, visors like new, all very clean. The ash tray door works properly. It has the original am/fm/cassette player, works as it should. Rubber moldings are all like new. There are some scratches on the hood in the clear coat, somewhat difficult to photograph (see photo). Gloss black does not need blending when repainted and is a very easy repaint. Paint was going to be my next task. Scratches in clear coat only, not through paint or into primer. It is not a perfect car, but far above average and I have $8000 in it so far. Top is new and the rear window (glass) is spotless. Cables have been serviced and are tight, works perfectly. Totally reliable. No odors. Needs: the driver's window is jerky but goes fully up and down without issue. The right rear window is off the track (the motor works fine). A couple small spots on the bumpers have worn down to the yellow plastic underneath (rubbed through, not dents) and could be touched up with the hood. I had intended to keep it forever and bring it up to perfection but found a more recent love, meaning this one must go. Car is stored inside. Paint is not faded, cleans up very nicely. I am in central Illinois, about midway between St. Louis and Chicago. A local sale is preferred, but I will work with your transport company. Illinois sales tax on this car is $25, and it will be eligible for Antique plates ($25 for 5 years) in 2014. $500 deposit within 48 hours of sale; deal closed within 1 week. Please see my feedback. Thank you and feel free to email questions!
