For Sale - 1979 Fiat Spider 2000 convertible, original Southern car, green exterior with beige interior and top. Produced from 1966 to 1985, every Fiat Spider came with a twin-cam 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual transmission, and all-wheel disc brakes. The body was designed and built by Pininfarina, the same Italian coach-builder who gave us the original Nash-Healey, Alfa-Romeo Giulietta Spider, Ferrari 250 GT, and many other classics. For 1979, Fiat upgraded the 124 Spider to Spider 2000, now featuring a new front grille and hood, flush-mounted door handles, and larger 14" wheels. Engine displacement increased to 1995cc, and the old points-style distributor was replaced by electronic ignition. This is an original Southern car, the body is straight but the paint is quite faded. Engine starts and runs well, with less than 200 miles on new timing belt and fuel pump. New tires on original alloy wheels. Other new parts include battery, brake master cylinder, all brake hoses and rebuilt rear calipers. Everything on this car is in operating order, including the original horn, heater, wipers, exterior lights, and emergency brake. All gauges work. Dash clock works but the facing is cloudy. With the original 2 barrel carburetor still in place, this car gets 35 mpg, is reliable and very fun to drive. Wherever you go it attracts attention, and people smile and wave at you. The carpeting need to be replaced, the dash and console have cracks. The left-side kick panel is missing, and both sun visors need replacement. The driver's floor had a small rust hole, and was repaired by the previous owner. The right quarter panel has a small rust hole in it, and the trunk lid has a primer spot.
