I don't understand all the hype on these newer cars that only provide 33-35MPG...economy 2 door deathtraps for 1000s of dollars and it doesn't even come with power mirrors, let alone a sunroof?!? Older Volvo cars get at or near today's mileage at fraction of the cost, not to mention the safest cars in the world! I know Honda Civics are hot reliable cars, but I've rarely seen one with leather and never with heated seats. Power windows?? Sure, but you're gonna pay for it. Any way you look at it, the S40 is not only a far superior car, but the BEST value especially during these tight money times. I STILL can't afford a new $15,000 Chevy Aveo and I won't be caught dead in a plastic paper thin "Smart" car. No thanks. No worries. Here's another super nice version of the 2001 S40 brought to you from justlikenew2u! Altho the color is a little plain, I would suggest holding your excitement until you actually see the car in person. It is a super cool color, having a slight Blue tint to it. I actually have the dark gray touchup paint and it's not even close! I'm no bodyman, but the car looks to have it's original paint. As you may or may not know, Volvos rarely rust, except the S40 lineup since these cars were made in the Netherlands. This car doesn't suffer from the typical roof rust that nearly all S40s display. The only rust I see is behind the unprotected mudflap-less splash area. And it's NOT rusted thru, only paint flake leaving the bare metal exposed. Totally fixable if desired without body panel replacement. I personally would leave it to frequent touchups and drive drive drive the car! See below for detailed pics. Below you can see the front nose, bumper and grill area look pretty nice. Minimal rockchips/scuffs and no major damages, cracks or repairs to the bumper cover or hood. Driving lights work as they should. Driver's headlight wiper blade is missing. The body panels, hood and roof are all nicely straight with only a handfull of dings. Minor enough that my camera can't show them. Typical of a car of this age with half it's mileage! Below, the Sumitomo tires are decent enough for now. I'd recommend front replacement come wintertime. Rears have much more tread but are a little noisy from what seems to be improper tire pressure resulting in uneven wear. Tires ride on clean undamaged vibration free rims. As you can see, the paint shines beautifully! Above is the half-dollar sized rust spot on lower left fender. Below you can see a few scratches, but no cracks or damages. Note the deeper tread on the rear tires. Deeper left upper scratch on the trunklid. Rear bumper cover has minimal chips and scratches. Left outer rear taillight bulb has already been replaced with new! (Didn't even notice, did ya?) Here's the ugliest rust area on the passenger side. It's been touched up so you won't need to deal with it. Again, note it's only surface and not rotted. Below you can see some scrapes on the fender edge. Most of it could be buffed out if desired. Onto the even nicer interior. Easily a 9 out of 10. Leather has typical minor use wear, definitely reflective of an 80k not a 180k! Driver's bolster looks good, no holes, rips or tears in the leather. ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING!EVERYTHING power works from what I can tell, cruise, windows, locks, roof, info panel, radio (antenna needs replacing), heated power seats, mirrors, etc. Can nearly eat off the carpet. Only complaint that I have is the inside driver's door latch came disconnected. I haven't had time to pull the interior panel to look. And the cupholder doesn't stay in it's hidden position. Did I mention the car is NO RESERVE?? Of course I can't verify for sure, but I hate smoke and this car seems to have been smoke-free! Below you can see ALL the dummy lights illuminate as they should upon startup. Only the "airbag" light remains on during run. It's typical and usually only a sensor. Sorry, I don't have the high dollar equipment to look into it further. The "engine" light was on when I picked up the car, then went off. I ran those codes and found only one, the O2 sensor code popped up. See below my reasoning for this code. I erased it and it has stayed off for the last 100 or so miles that I've driven the car. Full factory Volvo floormats and complete spare setup is intact. Above you can see the necessary factory manuals and only one key are included. Sorry, no keyless keyfob. I know it's not current but there is a state of Illinois emissions "PASS" sheet included as well. The engine compartment is as clean as the interior! Hood strut needs replacing. Fresh spark plugs have been installed. BRAND NEW TIMING BELT will be installed BEFORE you pickup the car giving it zero miles! This saves you HUNDREDS of dollars in future maintenance and repairs. It is on it's second belt and the appearance/mileage says it's due to be replaced. New air filter. Rear rotors and brakes are nearly new. Fronts are very recent. Right front upper strut mount is new. ALL coolant, oil and transmission fluids are clean. Strong Interstate battery installed. Engine starts up and runs perfectly. Transmission shifts as it should. Outside the little tire noise, the car drives smooth and pretty straight with only minor random pulling, mostly from my local crappy roadways (trucks beat em up bad). Suspension is smooth with no crashing or unusual noises. Absolutely no vibrations or major pulling/wandering while driving. AC blows ICE COLD! There are no signs of any major oil or coolant leaks. CV joints look clean and solid. There is a minor exhaust flexpipe leak under the car. This is a typical wear item that just so happens to cause the O2 sensor to throw a code after periods of time. The leak is small hence the delay in code/engine light. This repair is easily done for under $90 at most proper muffler shops. Again, my time is limited and I'm unable to drive the 30mins each way, and wait, at my shop of choice. I mentioned the NO RESERVE price, yes??
