Here is a RARE 1965 K Code Mustang Fastback with the factory High Performance 289 and 4 speed manual transmission with sport bucket seats. The engine was professionally rebuilt. This is a very beautiful and correct driver with matching engine number. It does have an after market CD player discretely placed in the glove compartment as well as speakers in the rear deck area. The Ford 289 V-8 (Hi-Po) "K" engine was produced by Ford and engineered to run at 8,000 RPM and was rated at 271 HP at 6,000 RPM. The "K" engine differs greatly from the standard 289 two or four barrel. The 289 Hi-Po has special heads, special exhaust manifolds, solid lifters, cam, crankshaft and harmonic balancer. It also has its own unique carburetor with manual choke, dual point distributor, chrome air cleaner, and chrome valve covers. It was the engine used in the legendary Shelby's. In 1965 there were 680,989 Mustangs made of which 7,273 were "K" codes. Of these only 51% were fastbacks.
