I am selling this vehicle on consignment for a good customer and friend of mine. I sold him this vehicle back in the winter and he recently traded it in on a newer Mercedes. In his meticulous care, this vehicle has received a good amount of service by the local Ford dealer where he lives. He has asked me to place a reasonable reserve to make sure this vehicle brings a fair price. As with all of my auctions, this vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. I am not a mechanic but I have had close experience with this vehicle over the last six months as he and I speak often. Please take the time to read this entire description carefully, read my terms & conditions and review each of the photos closely. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of this auction. Up for your consideration today is a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer in uncommonly clean condition with very low miles. The Mountaineer is an upscale version of the reliable Ford Explorer. This example is finished in gorgeous two tone black over gray with matching gray leather interior. As you can see, this is a great looking truck. This is a used vehicle. Please expect to find signs of wear associated with a vehicle of this age. Overall, I would say this Mercury Mountaineer is in AVERAGE CONDITION for the age of this vehicle. The black finish shines well but does have some typical age related micro cracks in the clear coat on the hood. The one reflector is missing from the rear bumper (easily replaced) and there are a few scratches on the rear bumper. The headlights were recently replaced with new OE lenses that are crystal clear. The alloy wheels look good and are wrapped in a matching set of Michellin's with good tread all around. A crack has recently developed in the windshield. At the buyers option, I can have that replaced at DEALER COST for you. There is a trailer hitch at the back for towing. The windows are tinted for privacy. This is a great looking truck and an excellent value. I would rate the interior of this Mercury Mountaineer to be in EXCELLENT CONDITION, a rating I rarely give. As you open any of the doors, you are greeted by one of the best kept interiors I've seen in some time. The door panels are clean and tight throughout. The headliner is clean and tight. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the interior. The current owner of this vehicle has also purchased factory OE rubber heavy duty floor mats for this vehicle that will be included with the sale. The cargo area is spacious and clean...it actually looks like nothing has ever been back there. The embroidered leather seats show very well all around. The front seats are power operated. The power windows, locks and mirrors all appear to be working properly. The climate control is fully operational and works properly. The air conditioner blows ice cold air. The stereo is the original Premium Sound which sounds excellent. In addition, this Mountaineer comes with a complete set of owners books and two keys with two remotes for the factory alarm which works properly. Mechanically, this Mountaineer is in great running and driving condition. With only 82k miles, it's hard to go wrong with this truck. The reliable 5.0L V8 engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. She keeps excellent oil pressure and proper operating temperature at all times. There are no warning lights on. In his care, this vehicle has received a new OE radiator from the Ford dealer, a full transmission flush as scheduled service and a new set of factory hood struts. The gentleman I am selling this for is very picky with his vehicles and keeps all of his cars in top mechanical condition. It drives very nice. The suspension is nice and tight. The brakes stop this vehicle with no issues. The steering is neutral and responsive. The AWD is tested and working properly. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. I can't say a single bad thing about this truck mechanically. This is probably low lowest mileage Mountaineer/Explorer available from this generation. If you follow my auctions, you will notice that this auction is not the same as my usual NO RESERVE auctions. I am selling this vehicle on consignment for a good customer and friend of mine. I sold him this vehicle back in the winter and he recently traded it in on a newer Mercedes. In his meticulous care, this vehicle has received a good amount of service by the local Ford dealer where he lives. He has asked me to place a reasonable reserve to make sure this vehicle brings a fair price. As with all of my auctions, this vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. I am not a mechanic but I have had close experience with this vehicle over the last six months as he and I speak often. Up for your consideration today is a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer in uncommonly clean condition with very low miles. The Mountaineer is an upscale version of the reliable Ford Explorer. This example is finished in gorgeous two tone black over gray with matching gray leather interior. As you can see, this is a great looking truck. This is a used vehicle. Please expect to find signs of wear associated with a vehicle of this age. Overall, I would say this Mercury Mountaineer is in AVERAGE CONDITION for the age of this vehicle. The black finish shines well but does have some typical age related micro cracks in the clear coat on the hood. The one reflector is missing from the rear bumper (easily replaced) and there are a few scratches on the rear bumper. The headlights were recently replaced with new OE lenses that are crystal clear. The alloy wheels look good and are wrapped in a matching set of Michellin's with good tread all around. A crack has recently developed in the windshield. At the buyers option, I can have that replaced at DEALER COST for you. There is a trailer hitch at the back for towing. The windows are tinted for privacy. This is a great looking truck and an excellent value.
I would rate the interior of this Mercury Mountaineer to be in EXCELLENT CONDITION, a rating I rarely give. As you open any of the doors, you are greeted by one of the best kept interiors I've seen in some time. The door panels are clean and tight throughout. The headliner is clean and tight. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the interior. The current owner of this vehicle has also purchased factory OE rubber heavy duty floor mats for this vehicle that will be included with the sale. The cargo area is spacious and clean...it actually looks like nothing has ever been back there. The embroidered leather seats show very well all around. The front seats are power operated. The power windows, locks and mirrors all appear to be working properly. The climate control is fully operational and works properly. The air conditioner blows ice cold air. The stereo is the original Premium Sound which sounds excellent. In addition, this Mountaineer comes with a complete set of owners books and two keys with two remotes for the factory alarm which works properly.
Mechanically, this Mountaineer is in great running and driving condition. With only 82k miles, it's hard to go wrong with this truck. The reliable 5.0L V8 engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. She keeps excellent oil pressure and proper operating temperature at all times. There are no warning lights on. In his care, this vehicle has received a new OE radiator from the Ford dealer, a full transmission flush as scheduled service and a new set of factory hood struts. The gentleman I am selling this for is very picky with his vehicles and keeps all of his cars in top mechanical condition. It drives very nice. The suspension is nice and tight. The brakes stop this vehicle with no issues. The steering is neutral and responsive. The AWD is tested and working properly. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. I can't say a single bad thing about this truck mechanically. This is probably low lowest mileage Mountaineer/Explorer available from this generation. Vehicle Pick-up:
Arrangements must be made in advance to pick up a vehicle. We do not have regular hours, we operate by-appointment. We are very flexible and accomidating with days and times to pick-up, but must have advance notice or there is a very real possibility you may show up and no one is here.
Accepted Payment Methods:
Vehicle will be immediately available for pick up if paid by cash in person. Payments made by wire transfer, check (cashiers or personal), or money order will be subject to verification of funds by my bank. The vehicle and title will be held until all funds have been cleared by my bank and made available for withdraw.
Paypal is accepted for the initial deposit only...not the balance. This includes Bill Me Later.
All vehicles shall be removed within 14 days of auction's end. Any vehicle left longer than 14 days without arrangements being made prior to the end of the auction will be subject to a storage fee of $5/day.
Bid Retractions/Changes:
I take selling vehicles on eBay very seriously. In the event of any bid retraction or bid change, it shall be the right of the seller to honor or not honor the outcome of the auction. This descision will be made at the sole discretion of the seller and can be made at any time while the auction is live or after the auction closes regardless of any circumstance.
