Vehicle Detail

Aloha Folks! Up for sale is my 1964 Volks! Clear title from the State of Montana where it was brought in 1969 from a California dealership and has spent its life on the Eastern [dry] side of the state since. Only two other owners other than myself. M-Code Plate numbers: 18 N 425 081 114 UL 2213 4217841 1203451 VIN #: 1203451 - M-Code Plate/Overhead Air duct/ and rear vins all match! [1203451] Manufactured: 18 November, 1963 [4 days before JFK's assassination] I bought this a few years back hoping to restore it and drive across the country after college; which I just graduated/ Montana State University- Bozeman. Double major in Environmental Horticulture and Landscape design with a Philosophy minor. I currently drive a 1970 Westfalia and she has been so good to me, never a problem! Oh the places you'll go and people you meet in a vintage VW!! I found my dream 66 westy and decided to sell this one off to fund a restoration for the 66! The bus is 95% complete sans the front and back bumpers, which can be purchased new on Mid-America Motorworks for a few hundred dollars; or scavenged in a junkyard if you want original parts. It also does not have any of the rear seats as the previous owner removed them to install a customized camper interior. [There are schematics on thesamba.com to weld new frames should you wish to turn it back into a passenger van.] He said he misplaced them and did not know where the seats were, but judging by the orginization of his place, they could have been anywhere! Everything else is there and complete though. The engine and tranny are complete, but will need some going through to get back up to daily driver status. I drove it home three years back and it ran just fine, tranny shifted perfectly. The brakes were soft and will need work. Basically this is just a rust free and dry shell that is the perfect platform for restoration and/or customization. There are front seats and all the lights, window latches, door knobs and all other small hardware. There isn't much else to these buses than that, simple, and thats why we love them so! The headliner is in near flawless condition! Only a few small tears at the rear hatch latches. The dash still has the original radio, although not the greatest looking thing, but the dash has not been cut or mutiliated in any way shape or form; which I saw as a huge plus! There are a few pictures that will show how straight the side panels are, not a single dent or ripple. The only body damage is a small bend in the lower front nose, seriously quite neglibile! There are a few surface rust spots on the roof and along the side doors, but nothing even close to cancerous. My '70 Westy had far more rust than this bus does. The front floors are solid as a rock and will not need patching. Other troublesome spots that are rust-free include: rocker panels, battery tray area[ both sides of engine], wheel wells, jack stand, and cargo floors. The bus has its original rubber matting underneath cardboard on the front and as well in the back. The back soundproofing above the engine looks brand new and is not chipped or dry rotted. All doors open and close tight and do not pop open when driving. The bus rolls just fine and e-brake works great for trailering or shipping. I can help get the bus to a shipping company or assist with the loading, but will not actually ship myself. Sorry, just too busy at the moment. Ebay only allows 24 pics to be uploaded but I have about 70 or so, so if you are TRULY!!!!! interested, give me your personal e-mail in your response and I will send you an online album; as well as answer any questions about the bus you may have. Please, pleasse, please do not be a dreamer or tire kicker, I have put up with my fair share of these people in the past few years! Also do not bid or make offer if you do not have the money to actually purchase. This bus is offered at $9000 USD, OBO. Hope to be hearing from you all soon! Ciao for now, Taylor M.
