Vehicle Detail
1974 Porsche 914, 2.0, 96,431 miles, Ravenna green. All gauges work; bumpers are excellent, and the body is very good. The minor rust in rockers was professionally re-welded and restored with POR-15 and galvanizing in 2007. Hell hole area beneath battery is sound, no rust. Unlike most 914s, rust is not an issue with this car. Interior is original, except for radio. Dashboard is good, but has one very minor dashboard crack. Windshield is excellent with no cracks/chips. Targa roof in excellent condition. Body in very good condition, with one small rust spot the size of a quarter on bottom of front quarter panel, as shown . This has not changed in the eight years I have owned the car. Mechanically, this two liter car is strong and sound. The original side-shifter linkage and transmission shift well. Motor burns no oil (though it does have a very minor oil leak). Clutch and brakes are excellent. Bridgestone Potenza tires (195/60R15”); rear tires in excellent condition, front tires in fair condition. Modifications from original include: Web high performance camshaft , Weber carburetors, Koni Sport adjustable shocks and new rear springs in 2007. Great torque for a two-liter. Since purchased in 2006, always garaged only driven occasionally in summer months. Previous owner and I always garaged this car, and drove it only in summer months. Never driven in rain nor snow by me or previous owner, this car is solid and dependable. Driver’s seat is damaged and ugly; passenger’s seat is near perfect. Carpet shows typical wear. Wheels need balancing. The professional re-paint is DuPont Imron, and still very shiny, though there are various scratches (the car was originally Revenna Green). The british racing green paint by previous owner above the rockers is a bit different, but looks good. Two of the Targa roof gaskets needs replacing. The rear valance is bent. Includes original tool kit, original Porsche 914 manual, maintenance records since owned (2006 forward). Front-end bra included. This is a sound and reliable example of the Porsche 914…a strong-running, dependable car. Selling it because my garage is over-full. This 914 is well preserved, and fairly priced. A Rocky Mountain car from the start, it was originally purchased in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1973. Porsche’s magazine, “Excellence” states this car’s value between $12,500 and $16,800.
