Vehicle Detail

1980Mercedes Benz300 SD Turbo DieselREADY TO CONVERT TO BIO-DIESEL!VIN: 11612012022764This 300SD Turbo Diesel sedan represents the zenith (and one of the last years) of the hand-built sedans that Daimler Benz began producing in the mid-fifties and exporting to the USA. The quality and detail of these classic four-doors, combined with the rugged, powerful durability of the 3.0 liter turbocharged diesel drive train make them among the best and most iconic models ever to come from the Fatherland. Because the cost of fuel is ever more rapidly increasing these diesel models make great sense to own and drive. The 300 SD sedan has a turbocharged 3.0 L I5 diesel engine developed from the record breaking C111 experimental vehicle.CONDITION:In total, this is a clean, smoke-free Mercedes. Accordingly here is a list of the good and also things needing attention: The car idles, runs and drives as I feel it should -- immediate, strong oil pressure, strong battery and charging system, no overheating, and no brake pull or alignment issues! The blue metallic paint is in good overall condition and still holds quite a shine with only some scratches and a chip or two as seen in the photos. The chrome and exterior trim all around is in way above average condition as shown. The entire undercarriage appears in great, solid shape. You'll see a spot on the rear window where the glass has discolored at the bottom edge -- don't know from what, but no leakage. The Mercedes alloys are straight and true with all four 205/75R14 radials at least 60% wear remaining. The front buckets are in fine condition. All the wood dash trim is solid with no delaminating. The dash gauges and exterior lights are bright and true. The rear bench has kept its shape and still holds your bottom well but has leather age tears as shown on the seat base and back. Opening and closing the sunroof is slow as are both rear windows. About the only issues I've found is the factory A/C wants to blow warm (I'd suggest a recharge) and the engine wants to run on for a few seconds after turning off the key.Cheers.
