Vehicle Detail
Just completed 2 year restomod. $42,000 + total invested. I can't afford that so it has to go while it's still new. New mustang II type front end with rack and pinion steering, sway bar. New fuel tank. Custom rebuilt original gages updated to 12 volt, volt meter and speedo recalibrated to 140 MPH. Look close, it looks stock! New upholstery with Willys Overland emblems stitched into the door panels. Rebuilt factory seats with new seat belts. New convertible top. New Lexan side lights(side windows). New Summit racing 387 crate motor with edlebrock manifold and carb. Rebuilt 700R transmission with Lokar shifter. New custom radiator with auxiliary 12 volt fan. New sealed battery hidden in compartment behind passenger seat. Power streering. Power Brakes with proportioning valve. Electric windshield wipe conversion. New tires and wheels. New spare tire with original style Willys hubcap. This car drives VERY nicely. Excellent flat cornering character and NICE acceleration with the new 411 rear end (8" Ford). Top speed is faster than I want to go! Deep and mellow sound from dual exhaust with chrome tips. The Jeepster is for sale locally for $35,000. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE AUCTION UNLESS SOMEONE BUYS LOCALLY BEFORE THE END OF THE AUCTION. Alabama does not issue titles for antique vehicles, but this vehicle is free and clear of any liens and is currently registered and insured. I have the notarized bill of sale and Ohio title from my purchase. Only known problems: The side lights don't fit very well. They were unwrapped and installed yesterday for the first time. The speedo stopped working while driving the car home from Performance Car Craft last week (suspect broken speedo cable, cheap and easy to find). The paint is new but has a few tiny defects. Excellent driver quality, not show quality. There is very little bondo on the car. New metal rockers were welded in during the restoration. Photos of the car undergoing the final touch-up can be seen on Performance Car Crafts web site under Rick's 49 Jeepster. Ebay does not permit clickable links any more so you have to google it.
