Vehicle Detail
For sale my Dads 1959 Triumph TR-3A. Great running and driving car with rebuilt engine. Has Toyota 5 speed conversion kit from HVDA Triumph conversions and newly installed Moss rack & pinion steering. I purchased the car in Feb. 2000 at which time I replaced the clutch and brake master cylinders, all rubber brake lines. I rebuilt the front calibers using stainless steel pistons and new pads. The car has 10” brakes on the rear with new wheel cylinders and shoes. At this time I removed the carpet, clean the floors and treated with rust preventer. They had some holes in them so I installed 16 gauge one-piece steel floors over the original floors and sprayed truck bed liner on them. The floors in this car are strong and will last for many years and do not leak but they are not original. I installed new seat springs, padding and leather seats from Moss Motors. In 2002 I decided to repaint the car. I disassembled most of the car and had it bead blasted to the bare medal. I installed new rocker panels, front fender bottoms and battery box. The body was not removed from frame. It was painted red lacquer and hand buffed. The windshield frame and post were rechromed and new glass installed. Lots of other parts and pieces chromed. Hood and trunk prop rods made of stainless steel. All other outside trim was replaced with new including door handles, hood and trunk hinges, all lights front and rear, all bumpers, overriders and brackets. New fender beading and grille. It has a new top and side curtains, 60 spoke chrome Dayton wire wheels with Coker Classic tires. In 2006 I rebuilt engine with new 87mm pistons and liners, performance camshaft. Head was converted to unleaded fuel. Also installed Toyota Celica 5 speed transmission kit. Installed new front shocks and rear leaf springs. In Feb. 2012 I installed a Moss rack & pinion steering kit, 3/8” drive belt kit and also converted to a 65-amp AC-Delco alternator. This car is fast and fun to drive. With the 5 speed in it in 5th gear at 3000 rpm it runs 65mph, at 3500 it will run 77mph. I have driven this car to Lakeland FL.and back with no problems. A round trip of over 1300 miles. The car has some dings and chips in the paint but normal for a 10-year-old paint job. I still have 1qt of paint and the original unrestored steel hardtop with all the hardware to install it. The car will be sold as is where is. Please call me with any questions at 865-617-9675 between 9 am and 9 pm. Thanks Charlie Johnson
