Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1995 Geo Metro Hatchback. It is the 1.0 Liter engine with the 5 speed manual transmission and needless to say it gets excellent gas mileage. Over 50 miles to the gallon highway. This car runs and shifts great with no hesitation. The check engine light is on because it needs the water temperature gauge fixed, I will try to have this fixed by the end of the auction. The head was rebuilt about 2 years ago. The only other issue of note is there was something wrong with the taillight wiring and after hours of diagnosis we could not figure out why they would not work so they are currently wired from the battery to a switch and then back to the lights. It works fine this way but it may be something you will want to spend the money to diagnosis and fix. Also it needs a belt for the air conditioning to work - we really never used the A/C and cut the belt for better fuel mileage. Leaks a little oil but doesn't burn any. The brakes on the car were completely replaced all the way around 3 weeks ago. New pads, rotors and some hardware. Tires are all in good shape with approx 70% tread. I am only selling this car because I need some cash to put into a truck I am restoring. The interior is in good shape. It is missing a window crank for the passengers side and someone stole the radio and I never replaced it. No rips or tears in the seats and it would clean up nice. The dash is a bit faded but I've seen them get much worse. Headliners always fall down in these so this one is pinned up as many are. This car spent most of its life in the south and has very little body or frame rust. I know unibody rot is a major problem with these cars and I can tell you other than a little surface rust the unibody is solid. I tried to photograph the known problem areas. The worst rust is on the bottom corner of the replacement door. The vehicle slid on ice into a metal stake which is why we replaced the door, that is the only accident it has been involved in. Body does have dings and scratches consistent with age. This is a great car and is highly sought after for its fuel economy and they are getting rarer to find with good unibody's especially in the northern US. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks for looking and good luck if you plan to bid. Miles listed are actual miles except for a short period of time where the speedometer cable was broken.
