Vehicle Detail

1972 Pontiac GTO Numbers NOT matching but all parts are off era Pontiacs. Odometer working and shows 6,010 miles, however I cannot firmly verify the mileage. 455 v-8 with less than 1,00 miles since rebuild, original turbo/hydromatic transmission (automatic), brand new tires (over$500), factory A/C (In engine bay but not connected) all new drum brakes, brake cylinders etc., MANY new suspension parts, new gas tank, floor panels, right rear quarter panel, new bumper, mostly new interior including headliner, rear seat, door panels etc. Sail panels not installed but vinyl and pattern piece come with car. Front and rear steel window trim/clips, mirrors and front seat belts not installed but come with car. Body was taken to metal and etched, primed, colored, cleared, wet sanded and buffed. I used good materials ($500-$600 in just paint). 1/2 gallon of matching color comes with car. Brake lights, signals and blinkers work. New window fuzzies, window rubber, door seals, trunk seals etc. Car starts, runs, drives, is titled and tagged. CONS: Restoration is ALMOST completed. Still needs heat & A/C and ductwork connected; no radio; original wiring is just old (the headlights stopped working after I installed the interior and I haven’t tracked down the problem yet); original glass is scratched in some places. I painted the car myself and I'm still learning so the spray pattern is splotchy when the sun catches it in some places. If the paint had turned out more professional the reserve would be quite a bit higher. It’s still very beautiful especially from a few feet (see pictures). The body was solid before paint except for the hood and front right fender. I hammered and fiber glassed them as much as I could but used some body filler before paint. The car has only been back on the road for about six months so I'm still working a few bugs out. The motor is strong but I'd like to have it professionally tuned. It's running a little rich and occasionally stalls, buts starts right back up. The stock starter works fine but is in close proximity to the now oversized headers and needs to cool down in the summer months after a long drive before restart. The rest of the year I have no problems. This easily fixed with the smaller sized high torque starters and some insulation wrap. I just haven’t gotten to it yet. This car was raced before the last owner bought it. That is why so many body and suspension parts are new. I want to be fair and mention it because it does take a little more work to restore raced cars even with the lower miles. I have $11,000 in receipts for restoration parts and services alone. Baby due next month and I don't have time or $ to finish this project. I already have a nice fuel injected 68 Fairlane daily driver (not for sale) so sadly the GTO has to go. I will drive the GTO a reasonable distance in-state only to deliver; otherwise buyer is responsible for delivery. The reserve is set fairly low for a quick sell. This is a really good deal on a very cool car that has had most of the work done for you. Please contact me with any questions or to see the car. Cell 609-217-5857
