Vehicle Detail

Up for No Reserve Auction is my second-owner, daily driver 1998 Volkswagen Passat GLS Wagon. We are moving back to Oregon and this reliable, family friendly car sadly must be sold. The VW Passat is Volkswagen's top of the line mid-size wagon with a 1.8L turbo engine. This turbo four cylinder allows this car to get a good combination of fuel economy and power. We average between 28-32mpg on the freeway, and around 26mpg in town. The engine runs well, is strong, and is surprisingly peppy for a four cylinder. Currently, the ABS light is on (a replacement ABS unit will be included in this auction), and the airbag light is on. The five speed transmission shifts easily and smoothly. The clutch is easy on the leg and engages with no slipping or chatter, and is a very easy clutch to operate. Exterior: The burgundy paint on the exterior is in average condition for the age and mileage. I'd rate it about a 6 on a 10 point scale. The only blemishes of note are: on the hood (clear coat is peeling a bit), there are small scratches in several places across the car, the trim on the passenger side had come loose and was reattached, and there is a small dent in the front driver's side fender. There is a crack in the passenger side windshield from a rock on the freeway on the move out to PA. (Safelite estimated repair at $250). The Borbet alloy wheels are in good condition with typical scratches for a car of this age. Currently, the car has its spare on it, but the matching tire and rim are in the spare tire compartment. This Passat also has the tow package, capable of hauling a small trailer or boat. Interior: The tan cloth interior is in average condition for the age and miles. The seats are all comfortable to sit in. The driver's seat sports multiple manual adjustments, and has a lumbar support adjustment as well. Both driver and passenger seats are also heated. This car has the full set of power accessories: windows, locks, mirrors, and sunroof. The A/C, heater, and defroster fan blows at all positions and speeds, but the AC is currently not working due to a ruptured freon line (the replacement hose will be included in this auction). The factory radio has been replaced with a high quality Pioneer CD/MP3 player. Additionally, we have installed aftermarket fog/driving lights for better visibility, and the stock headlights have been replaced with aftermarket projection beam headlights, which give it an updated appearance. History: This has been a daily driver for us since we bought it from the second owners in 2003. In that time, we have performed the maintenance as required, including the timing belt, brakes, and oil changes as scheduled. This has honestly been the best car we have ever owned, never having left us stranded and had wonderful gas mileage and comfort. It has been reliable, easy and inexpensive to fix, and it has moved us across the country several times now. And as a bonus, it is an Oregon car, so has very little rust for a car of this age. It served as our primary family car for 9 years, and has lots of space inside for kids and pets. Based on the KBB ratings, I would place this car as between good and fair, and has been priced taking this into account. We would not be selling except for our upcoming move across the country back to Oregon. We also have available a full set of brand new Blizzak snow tires mounted on stock VW rims that we would let go for an additional amount (just let us know if you are the winner). This car has a current clear Oregon title and registration and is currently in Hazleton, Pennsylvania (18201), but I will ship this car if the buyer will make arrangements to do so. Full payment must be made before June 15th, and shipping must take place before the 18th. This car is also listed locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction before the close in the event of a local sale. If you are local to the Hazleton area, you can make arrangements to come by to test-drive the car and see it in person. Thanks for looking and thanks for bidding! --Katie On May-29-12 at 06:14:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: Zero or Negative Feedback individuals should contact me via questions before bidding. All zero or negative feedback buyers' bids will be cancelled automatically due to scammers utilizing the Ebay registration process. Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience. ---K
