Up for sale is this 1966 Mercedes 230SL with manual 4-speed transmission. BODY: There are some definite rust issues, the worst of which seem to be in the lower body panels underneath the car. There is a pretty good size hole in the lower rear panel in front of the rear subframe, as shown in the pictures. As is usual, I'm sure there is a considerable amount lurking beneath the undercoating. This is the worst aspect of the car's condition. The paint could be presentable with some work. There is some water staining on the upper panels, a nasty dent on the LR panel next to the trunk lid, and some cracking on the RR quarter panel area. ENGINE: The vehicle ran very well until it was parked 4 or 5 years ago, and was driven regularly up until that time. Before starting the vehicle after it sat, I removed the fuel tank and had it professionally cleaned. The oil was also changed (Rotella 15w40), fuel filter, and spark plugs. She fired up and ran well, but started missing and running rough shortly after that. After replacing the points and again the plugs, it runs, but not too well. The injectors may need cleaning, but after sitting so long it's likely going to need a ton of maintenance to get her running correctly. Gear changing and clutch both work fine. Some general wear and tear in the front and rear suspension, but nothing too critical. The interior is in reasonably good condition considering the age. The clock still works. All pretty much there in the pictures, and further pictures available upon request. Due to the rust issue, I consider this vehicle either a restoration candidate or parts car. Please bid accordingly.
