Vehicle Detail
There are more detailed photos at the following link: http://photobucket.com/gsxrjunkie1968mustangcoupe My Grandma purchased this car brand new September 20th 1968. She drove it as a second car until the early 90’s. The engine was then replaced with a new factory longblock by the Ford dealer and has been more or less of a garage ornament since. The car has never been in any kind of accident and she was adamant about never going more than 55 mph. In June of 1997 a body shop repainted the exterior of the car and also did some other finishing and interior work. I have all of the receipts from the body shop. After the mustang made it home from the body shop it has never really left the garage since except for the occasional spin around the block. I got the mustang from my Grandma in 2007, but the seals on the brakes were leaking by that point. In October of 2009, I took it to R&A Motorsports http://www.r-amotorsports.com/ to repair and restore the engine bay, drivetrain, suspension, fuel system, and brake system to original as possible. This car has never been modified so I wanted to keep it original. I have all of the receipts, pictures of before, during and after of the time it spent at R&A Motorsports. The shop primarily restores Shelby and other very unique and high dollar mustangs, so their attention to detail is superb. I am a perfectionist and very hard to please, but they did great work. You can go to their website to see to the extent of what they do restoration wise. They completely disassembled the front end of the car. The engine was disassembled and inspected, and all new gaskets were installed. The head underwent a valve job and installation of new seals and machining of the deck and exhaust port surfaces. The original exhaust manifold was cleaned and machined to insure a leak free seal to the head. A new exhaust system was installed from the exhaust manifold to the tailpipe. The transmission was disassembled and inspected. The shifter bushings, lines, transmission module and all new gaskets were installed. The rear end was cleaned up thoroughly and new fluid and gasket added. The original sway bars were cleaned and repainted along with the engine bay braces. The upper and lower control arms, front and rear springs, and front and rear shocks along with all bolts were replaced. The steering box was rebuilt and new tie rods and bushings were all installed to make the steering tight. The brake system is all new starting with the master cylinder all the way to, but not including the drums. The fuel system is all new from the filler neck all the way to the lines feeding the carb. The original carb was cleaned and rebuilt. The original distributor was also cleaned and rebuilt. The wheels were powder coated and new tires were installed. In the trunk, the original factory spare wheel and tire were cleaned up and the wheel was painted. It still has the factory jack as well. I also have and will include a brand new indoor premium quality car cover and brand new carpeted running horse floor mats. I also have the original temporary owner card, car order from the dealer Spruill Motors Inc, owner’s manual, and warranty facts booklet with original owner card in excellent shape. I also have a copy of the original title. I also have obtained a dealer brochure, accessory price list, and a 1968 mustang illustrated facts and specifications manual. In the paperwork there is also a thin metal plate with the vin and the following information right below that: 65a t 2d o2u 53 4 w Overall the car is in very good shape. The paint job looks good from a few feet away, but there are places with some debris. Not many people would notice, but I am very particular about stuff. There is some rust underneath the car. There are some rock chips on the rear quarters behind the tires. The transmission pan gasket is cork, so it leaks a little. The only reason I am selling the Mustang is because I travel a lot for work and do not have the time to enjoy it. I have had it for five years and have only put twenty nine miles on it. R&A Motorsports probably put on twenty five of those miles doing the road testing after assembly. I will only accept a wire transfer or cash.
