2002 MAZDA MIATA SPECIAL EDITION, Low Mileage, One of a Kind When I purchased this car, it was my pride and joy. Now my daughter is my pride and joy and my wife won't let one near the other. So it has come to this, I must part ways with her (the car, not the daughter). As indicated I am the original owner and have commuted via mass transit from NJ to NYC since owning this car, hence the reason for the ridiculously low mileage. There were only 1,500 of this model produced, so it is somewhat of a collectors item. The MX-5 Miata Special Edition truly captures the sport car driving experience, while managing to be affordable. It's an experience to drive and consistently scores high in both reliability and performance. Whoever wins this bid will have captured a good deal of intrinsic value in that the car has only been owned by myself, driven only for pleasure, never smoked in, and taken good care of. I wax twice a year (again, the car) and have regular synthetic oil changes. There's nothing better than driving down the shore with the top down and the Bose system setting the vibe. The orange glow of the instrument panel against the all black leather interior looks amazing at night. The trunk is built with a divet designed to fit 2 sets of golf clubs. Great gas mileage. Fast and light. Excellent cornering. Here are the highlights: 66k miles 6-speed Manual transmission, short throw shifter Bose audio System with 6 cd changer in dash, auto adjusts volume for speed with top up and top down mode 16 valve direct injection engine Keyless Entry Chrome gas cap Wind Guard Power Brakes Power Mirrors Power Steering Power Locks Spoiler Blazing Yellow Black Leather interiors Perforated sport pedals Nardi Steering Wheel All Power Options Leather Package dashboard Alloy wheels Alarm w/Keyless entry Condition This is a 10 year old vehicle so it has the typical wear and tear you'd expect. Ie slight wearing where the elbow sits against the door, the seam on the seat needs sewing, and some nicks. I had the hood repainted back in 2006, you can make out the difference in fading between the hood and left fender if you examine closely. It's not blended as well as I'd have liked but I'm picky. You will need to get a new keyless entry remote but the key does engage the alarm system. I replaced the top in March so there's a $2,000 value with a brand new top and defroster. I recently replaced an O2 sensor, which is the only work I've had to do in quite a few years. The engine is quick and I've had no issues. Clutch is flawless and the short throw shifter gives the six speed transmission true sports car feel. There are two items on the carfax report from 2004 & 2005. Because I know people will ask, the first was damage to the right front side, replaced headlight and fender. The 2nd was front on rear bumper. Replaced bumper and hood. There have been no residual effects in the 8 years since. Lastly the Special Edition has the appearance package. I mention this because it really adds to the look of the car. I typically didn't like Miatas as I felt they looked thin. The Special Edition has additional body work and molding around the fenders which give it a much more robust (manly) look along the lines of the Z4. Honestly it's an eye catching ride and I'm hear broken to give it up. When I make a purchase, I look for things with hidden value. Given the mileage and condition of the engine, this car is loaded with hidden value! Perfect timing with summer just around the corner on the East Coast.
