Each vehicle is thoroughly road tested before being offered for sale so I can tell you first hand how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am basically a wholesaler, not a mechanic. Every vehicle I sell is represented accurately to the best of my ability. Please take the time to read this entire description, review my terms & conditions and look at each of the photos closely before bidding or asking questions. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 2001 Volkswagen Passat GLS. The Passat is a very roomy vehicle that gives the fun and spirit of a VW but your passengers actually have room, too. I would rate the exterior condition of this Passat to be AVERAGE for the age and mileage of this vehicle. As you can see, this is a good looking car. The dark blue finish has a deep shine and shows well. Beyond normal wear, there is no noteworthy damage to the exterior of this Passat. The alloy wheels look good. The tires are average all around. Cosmetically, the only thing it will need is a new pair of front corner and marker lights. I would rate the interior of this Passat to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for the age and mileage of this vehicle. The black cloth interior shows pretty well but it does have some "Volkswagen" to it. There is an issue with the drivers door switches. The windows work at their individual switches but the drivers door controls do nothing. The mirror switch is broken. The radio does not power up. The climate control system appears to be working properly. The air conditioner blows ice cold air, too. The retracting rear shade is nice for keeping the cabin cool. The original owners book is included. The trunk is spacious and clean. The seats show no noticable wear. The carpets and headliner are also clean. Mechanically, this Volkswagen appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 2.8L V6 has been a staple of the VW/Audi line for a while now...this being its best version. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I did not see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. When I saw that this was a V6 with the manual transmission, I was all over this car! The engine runs smoothly and strong. The suspension feels pretty good for an older car and only makes a tiny bit of noise over harsh surfaces like railroad tracks, ect. The brakes feel good. The steering is neutral and responsive. There are a few intermittant lights that come and go...they are AirBag, ABS and Brake. None of them stay on all the time and I've seen no drivability issues. Volkswagens are known for dirty sensors...but I have no diagnostic ability beyond telling you if the brakes work or not. Out on the highway, this Passat drives nice and smooth. Under accelleration, the front end does have a shake. I had never encountered this before...as it cruises smooth as silk at part throttle. A mechanic friend of mine said it sounds like a CV joint wearing out. Again, I can only relay what it does/doesn't do. The clutch engages smoothly and does not slip or chatter. Gear changes through the manual transmission are smooth and effortless. It will need some initial service, but this is a very desirable Passat with good miles.
