Vehicle Detail
1981 BMW 528i. It has been very good to us; has never let us down. The car had a problem with hesitation and we put it into a local European repair shop. They changed the fuel filter and replaced a cracked intake boot. The car ran flawlessly for 8 days and then began to hesitate again. I thought that another fuel filter change might correct the problem and had it done. No difference. I now think it needs a fuel pump, which is available from Advanced Auto Parts for $162. Even with the hesitation, I drive the car approximately 80 miles per day on my commute. It also has a coolant leak from the water pump. I believe that you could drive the car anywhere as long as you could deal with the hesitation (it will only accept part throttle at times) and remembered to check the coolant level. The leather interior is cracked and doesn't look very good. The previous owner installed a radio/cd player that no longer functions. The original BMW radio is included. The power windows work but one of the rear windows does not like to go back up; we don't put them down any more. The power sunroof works but needs help opening and closing. The car drives and tracks very well. The mechanic told me that the undercarriage is in very good shape for an '81; it is a solid car. We don't want to sell, but my wife's minivan blew up and we simply must. The car is Pennsylvania inspected until 5/12 and should pass again as we have only put 5000 miles on it since the last inspection. The title is clear and in hand.
