Vehicle Detail

My family is leaving the USA for a country where this car would simply not work and need to pass along this 951 to the next owner... I spent a lot of time making this car the one that I always wanted, it became a labor of love and I never saw myself selling it. Alpine White Porsche 944 Turbo (non-S) with 42k original miles, carfax certified. The car has been stored indoors for 16 years until it was seized, auctioned off and I was the lucky winner. It literally had 60 miles in 15 years, until a little over two years ago, when I completed a restoration to original (had 39k miles at this point). The engine bay is clean with nice clear plastics and evidence of its unmolested history. It did have one accident in the late 1990s as per carfax; the drivers rear quarter panel was replaced and car was painted... however the title was branded. The weld in the inner fender well is of professional quality, the only defect is a small crack by the sunroof in the paint finish (see pics). It drives and feels like a 5 year old car, the drive train is robust and will be reliable for a long time. Since then, I went through it to make this my driver and it's been turned into a really great driver. I have not deviated from the factory formula, if only to add some desirable options. It now sports 993 Cup 2's, a manual sunroof, a more durable Performance Friction clutch, Lindsay Racing cone filter kit (brand new K&N), new Koni's and an ECU tune. I have gone to great lengths to bring nearly complete factory functionality back to the car. Wear items and common age related concerns have been addressed with new Porsche parts. I spent 6 years as a professional technician working exclusively on German cars, and have personally owned seven 944's (from 924S to 968 and in between) over the years... I know my way around these cars and I have appreciation for bringing these car to spec. Every filter/fluid was replaced with the right German parts and fluids, a new hatch replaced the old one which separated, many interior pieces were sourced and replaced with new or high quality replacements. Battery is fresh, negative ground cable was replaced with an Iceshark reproduction. Added a lower temp thermo-fan switch, It has a new heavy duty clutch kit, I completed a front engine reseal (no engine leaks at all), replaced the engine oil cooler seal, did the timing belts & rollers and replaced the head gasket (head is in great shape) with the wide fire ring version, replaced the entire ignition system and have quite a few accessories (bra, cover) that come along with purchase. Factory tool kit, tire and jack/handle are included. All glass is in great shape, no cracks or defects. Interior is good, and complete... just one small crack in the passenger side of the dash, drivers seat is powered is not terribly worn, but both seats are original. Sunroof does not leak, and has been converted to manual operation. Brakes and suspension are in great shape and I had the tires aligned with a bit of negative camber for fantastic handling. I did not recharge the R-12 AC. Engine is about the highest quality you will come by; the wiring harness, rubber bits and seals are still supple, and the engine feels fantastic with great throttle response, and feels fantastic at .9 bar (I have extra modified banjo bolts for fine boost adjustment). The aftermarket clutch is not as smooth as factory, but has 33% more friction material. Front bumper could use a respray and the rest of the paint is in good condition with no dents or significant scratches. I also have a late model (968 style) spoiler, factory turbo-s door speakers/grilles/eq/stock stereo kit. Included as "spares" is whatever I have in the garage from my years of these cars and I am not taking with me to Indonesia... some misc extra trim pieces, various spare body parts and some mechanical bits as well as some 944 specific tools: flywheel holder, balance sprocket tools and clutch alignment... I can't take it with me, so you get the benefit. Buyer should understand this is not a mint car @ 25 years, but it is a low-mileage driver with a decade of trouble-free wonderfully pleasurable years ahead of it. This turbo model is finally recognized as one of the most appreciated Porsches in history for it's speed, incredible handling and real world practicality... it has a cult following. They are fun well beyond their cost of entry. They are becoming infrequently seen already, and this example with ~40k miles is certainly becoming rare. Most often, 951's are high in mileage, terribly abused/modified beyond recognition and require expensive service. This car provides the luxury of neither of those concerns. Drive it cross-country tomorrow, put it into an autocross that afternoon. I may meet a buyer within 250 miles if delivery is requested. Options: Sunroof, Leatherette, Charleston Radio. Transmission is non-LSD, no oil cooler. Not M030.
