1969 Triumph Spitfire

I bought this car in San Diego, Calif. 12 years ago, moved to Tennessee in 2001, put the car in my garage and there it sat, unmoved, until 4 weeks ago. The 1296cc engine had been disassembled and the head was wrapped in plastic. It appeared to have been reconditioned with new valves, etc. All of the engine parts seem to be there. The 4-speed transmission and overdrive unit is still in place. The car is all original and 95% complete. The soft top frame is there as well as the original hard top. Interior seems to be original and in fairly good condition considering the age of the car. The exterior has the original paint although not in good shape. The hard top was painted the same color as the car. There is only one dent in the car and it happened while transporting it from Calif. My air compressor fell against the driver door and dented it slightly. The windshield and door glass is in good condition. NOW, The rare part!!! The car is 99% rust free. No rust in the floor pans or trunk floor pan except some slight surface rust in the foot wells. There is a rusted out area along the bottom of the trunk lid(why, I don't know) and the battery box bottom(probably from battery acid) is partially rusted out. The hard top has a couple rust areas at the bottom on the sides. The trunk mat is original as is the spare tire cover and both in very good condition. Since the late 1950s, I have owned a lot of vintage sports cars and almost all of them have rusted out floor pans so this car is a great candidate for restoration. Please do not bid if you are not serious. I require a non-refundable $500.00 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of winning the auction and the balance prior to pickup.
