All of my vehicles are kept in a fenced and locked lot, so an appointment MUST be made before coming to look at, test drive, or pick-up the vehicle. Up for No Reserve auction is a 92 Volvo 940GL sedan. This 940 is powered by Volvo's bullet-proof 2.3L 4 cylinder engine. This engine will not take any trophies home at a drag race, but it is one of the engines known to reliably go many hundreds of thousands of miles with just basic maintenance. Behind the 2.3 is an automatic with overdrive transmission. The engine and transmission both run as they should. The all important timing belt service has just been done. It will have less than a 1000 miles on the new belt when you get the car. The suspension is in good order, no shakes, clunks, or pulling. The ABS brakes stop strong. Mechanically this car is in good working order. The dark green-blue paint is in decent shape for the age and mileage. As you can see in the pictures, there are the scratches, nicks, and blemishes that a car gather from normal use evident. The steel wheels are in good shape and wrapped in a set of Dunlop Signature tires with deep tread. The interior of the car is in rather disappointing shape. The leather seats are in poor condition. The leather is cracked and splitting. The seats are still comfortable to sit on and the cushions aren't bad, so a set of seat covers should make a massive and inexpensive improvement. The carpets are in decent shape. They are somewhat discolored, but they have no holes. The GL trim level for the 940 was very well optioned. It has power windows, locks, and mirrors. All work as they should. The power sunroof does not respond. The A/C blows cold and the fan works in all positions at all speeds. The factory AM/FM radio sounds decent for the age. There is a Sony 10-disc CD changer mounted in the trunk. It has power and the CD mag operates, but I do not know how to make it play. This car has a current PA safety and emmissions inspection good through Sept 2012. If you are looking for a reliable vehicle, you can't beat the reliability of a 90s Volvo. This may not be the prettiest car on the block, but it basic maintenance, it will still be running strong long after many cars half it's age have worn out.
