Vehicle Detail
Up for auction at NO RESERVE! Greetings, I'm selling this car because my family recently bought a lower mileage Mercury Sable wagon that was priced too reasonably to pass up. This car has been a good runner and I believe the guts of the car are still rock solid. The motor doesn't us oil and the transmission doesn't have any of the 'Taurus Slip.' The car has been freshly detailed and is extremely clean. The car has some cosmetic issues (it does have over 180K miles, after all...), all of which I tried my very best to photograph in detail. I will describe the known issues below, but like any used car with this amount of mileage, I will be selling the vehicle AS-IS, WHERE-IS. Please feel free to contact me with any specific questions, requests to view the vehicle, or requests for additional or specific pictures. The vehicle is located approximately 12 miles northwest of Lancaster, MN. ISSUES: Tear in the driver's side seat (don't leave a screwdriver in your back pocket). One of the hinges for the rear hatch window is broken. There is no issue with this window while driving. It stays in place while the window is shut, and you can open the back window but it flops around the existing hinge until you re-latch it. I have disabled (sort-of) the power lock for the back hatch. Basically I put a hose clamp around the lock pin so it doesn't drop down when you try to lock the doors. Something in the linkage is a little off and without the clamp the pin wants to drop down too far and then doesn't hit the hole properly to come back up. It got to be a real pain, and we live in a safe, rural area rarely keeping anything of value in the vehicle. The air conditioner is operative and works well, however, the system does leak. I have typically bought refrigerant at a local parts store and recharded the system myself ($30 roughly) each summer for the last two years. It's a pretty simple fix, and it holds well enough to go from May until September. There is a slight leak from the exterior vent right under the windshield leading down to the interior fan. I have not inspected it in detail, but I think a little silicone would remedy this issue. Basically, if the car is parked INTO the wind in a heavy rain, there will be some seepage into the passenger-side footwell as the water runs down and through the fan housing. The driver's side mirror housing is broken. I bought this car at 80K miles and the mirror looked EXACTLY like it does in the picture the day I bought it (way back in 2007). The mirror retains all functionality and moves easily using the controls inside. The mirror has made it through numerous touch and touchless carwashes while I have owned it. I think the car may need to have the rotors turned shortly. The car has some pulsation and vibration while braking at high speed (like while going off the interstate onto a deceleration ramp). There is some plastic damage on the rear hatch and quite a bit of scratching on the rear bumper. The power antenna is broken and does not move. The radio worked fine like it is so I didn't fix it. The antenna also has survived numerous touch and touchless car washes as-is. The front (drive) tires are at about 50-60%, and the rear tires are probably at 10%. There is no belting showing on any tires. GOOD LUCK!!
