Vehicle Detail
Another kid and move are the reason for getting rid of my 71 Transporter. We bought this a couple of years ago intending to have it restored by someone else as I know very little on the subject. I will describe to the best of my ability and encourage questions and come see it in person if you wish. Engine starts and runs fine but needs a tune-up as it is a little boggy and takes a little work to get up the hills in Idaho. Manual transmission shifts OK. Clutch seems fine. Brakes pull to the right a little and I'm sure could use some improvement. Recently, it sounds like something in the rear suspension is loose or bad because it has a loud thump/rattling when you hit even small bumps or take a tight turn. The generator/alternator needs replacing at some point as it doesn't seem to charge fully. Due to little electrical, a fully charged battery lasts a long time and many starts. No seats in the middle or back seats. No rear bumper. Cracked windshield. Some areas of rust primarily along the bottom and around window seals. Some poor attempts at repair/conceal were made by previous owner. A couple dents but straight overall. Currently has pretty decent studded tires on (front passenger has very slow leak) and a second set of four rims and tires. Two chains. Misc parts and book including carb (unknown condition). Driver's and passenger seats work but are rough under cover. Has the front emblem and VW hubcaps. Cracks in the dash. Top looks good. Original paint was orange and white it appears. I'm not sure what the first number in the odometer is (I would guess at least a 2). I haven't noticed any fluid leaks since I've had it. Battery is older. I drive this van but I would strongly encourage bidders to trailer until you can test the brakes and tune-up before driving long distance and through the mountains as you'll have to from Clarkia, ID. I have the title in hand. I hate to part with this but I know someone will restore this to its former glory. So, I hope between my description and photos, you can get an idea of the condition. Feel free to come out and take a look or ask questions and I'll do my best to answer. I'll add any details as I think of them. No Reserve. I have given my honest take on the bus and am selling "as is" and buyer is responsible to remove. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
