Vehicle Detail

No reserve. 1989 Toyoto Camry, four-door, 6-cylinder, 149,700 miles, 2 years shy of being a “classic automobile.” This is a daily driver with some provisions. For its age, this is a fabulous car, ducky, really. I bought it on ebay seven years ago: I drove it for three years, my son drove it for two years, and my daughter drove it for two years. It has just short of 150K miles on it. Here is the good, the bad and the ugly: The good: This was a good year for the Camry. If you look around, there are more of this make and model on the road today than any other of its era. The engine runs like a top. It turns and breaks like a champion. It has plenty of zip and a pretty good ride. It is fairly clean and doesn’t smell bad. The tires aren’t bad. It gets decent gas mileage. It has a nice stereo and CD changer in the trunk. The bad: It has significant oil and power steering fluid leaks. As long as you keep these fluid levels up, you have no problem. Of course this is a significant pain in the ass. I have glanced under the front end, and it looks to me like the oil is leaking from the oil pan or plug, which is no biggie, but ya never know. I am pretty sure the left front steering line is leaking, which again, if true, is no biggie. I could maybe fix these, but I am far too lazy. My loss is your gain. If you leave the stereo on, there is a chance it will drain the battery. Apparently, a moron installed the CD changer. Again, a potentially easy fix, but it was just easier to turn off the stereo. The right front wheel cover is missing. There is some play in the seats and the steering wheel, but they are not too terribly bad. The antenna is bollixed. The air-conditioning needs to be recharged, I think. The ugly: This is an ugly car. It is brown. It has always been brown, and so it has always been an ugly car. The paint is not good. There is rust around the bottom all around, but it appears to be more cosmetic than structural. The left front turn signal cover is broken. The left back trim is off, but it is now in the back seat. Having said that, the car has fabulous lines and few dents. Feel free to contact me with questions or to arrange a test drive.
