84 Rabbit GTI. 5 speed manual, I bought the car about 2 years ago for a project! the GTI has been sitting in my garage and i've decided to sell it now. i have 2 other projects that i'm working on and i barely have time to work on them. My intention was to build a complete VR6 turbo and it just didn't happened. Anyway, GTI has to go!!! I've been working on it for the last 4 weeks, doing little things on it. here's some of the stuff i did, and some stuff that was done previously: -Replaced both front wheel bearings, tie rod ends and lower ball joints (have receipt) BTW, it could use a front end alignment now, sinse it was all taken apart for replacing parts, but it's not bad. -New re-done headliner (the small section for sunroof is not done. sunroof doesn't open) -It has black VW Beetle seats. (driver's side fully functional, pass side doesn't go up and down but slides front and back) -The interior originally was blue but has been dyed Black. (everything except the dash board) -Car is mostly original!!! - All lights work, blinkers, headlights, parking lights... everything... -Car comes w/ a Timing belt kit (see pic. It's brand new) -Tires are decent but not matching -front clear corner lights w/ amber bulbs -Good exhaust all the way back. ( In my opinion it's kind of loud,) -Motor is very solid and powerful. Previous owner Rebuilt it at 180k. Stock 8 valve solid lifter head, no smoke no weird noises. (has a small oil leak somewhere on bottom, not sure where.) -Trans is Good. Shifter bushings a little loose, but shifts great! Clutch is a little hard, I think normal for cable MK1 Clutch Grabs Great! -New Accessory belt. -Very little rust! (only on bottom of the rear bumper Brakets. Please see pics closely) -Good brakes all the way around -Not Great, but Decent Paint! looks like the right rear 1/4 panel has had repaint before, but no bondo... there's a small dent on bottom of pass. door. -I have Both original bumpers. they are just not in the car, but they come w/ the car. The bad; (but not terrible) -left rear tail light has a hole( please see pics) -The Black sticker around the rear window on the trunk door is peeling off. -Hood release cable is rusted and not working properaly. can open hood throught the front grill. -Windshield is cracked on the pass side. (i don't think it would pass inspection in VA) -No A/C nor Power steering. (i don't know if it came w/ it) -car is not inspected in VA. I will not get it inspected. (To pass inspection in VA, will need windshield(maybe) and rear tail light (deff.) -Top of dash is cracked pretty badly (see pics) (i was going to do MK3 or MK4 dash swap) -The Temp gauge is crazy! Could be just the sensor, Some days it doesn't work at all, sometimes it goes to red, sometimes it stays normal and sometimes stays down... who knows, but i does not overheat!! That is the only electrical that doesnt work right!!! In My personal opinion, It is the perfect candidate for a good swap! Or just finishing it and keeping it stock... Needs just a few more things.... Its a daily right now. Not the most plesurable car to drive everyday honestly, but very solid and reliable. Up to about 2 years ago, this car was being dreiven pretty muck daily, When i bought it i drove very little and it litterally was parked im my garage and i barely even started it until about 1 month ago when i decided to sell it and started doing a little work on it (mostly interior and suspension) The reason i'm stating this is because if you buy the car and are from another state, and decide you want ot drive it home, remember it's been "sitting" for a while. As of right now, i do believe it could be driven to another state but i can NOT guarantee you won't have any problems!! I'm willing to ship the car but only w/ the new buyrs arrangements and expenses paid! I could even deliver it if it's close, but car will have to be paid in full and there will be and extra cost!. Just trying to help the new buyer as much as i can w/ the purchase! A $500 non refundable deposit will be due within 24 hours of the end on the auction though PAYPAL. I don't know exsactly why, but the odometer reading on the car right now states exsactly 299975 Miles. on the title it says 268819N miles. The "N" in VA means not actual miles. I don't know if the cluster is original or not. The car is 28 years old and i I don't know all the history w/ it! All the story i know is exsactly what i stated on the above description, so please read it carefully! I have the Title and the Title is clear and on hand. if you need a copy of the title i can email it to you, if requested.
