An appointment MUST be made before coming to look at or test drive the vehicle. Up for auction with No Reserve is a very clean 1998 Isuzu Rodeo LS. This four wheel drive mid-size SUV is powered by the 3.2L V6 and 5-speed manual transmission. The 3.2L V6 produces a lot of low end torque and mates very well with the gearing of the manual transmission. The engine runs smoothly and revs easily. The clutch is good and engages smoothly. The rugged, truck-like suspension and rigid frame make this SUV able to handle bumps and off road driving with no trouble, but at the expense of a slightly bouncy on-road ride. The push button four wheel drive with auto locking hubs engages and disengages as it should and the hi/low gear range shifts smoothly. The brakes have some pulsing from a warped rotor, but they stop strong and straight. The green metallic paint on this Rodeo is in average condition for an SUV of this age and mileage (see pics). There are no major dents, only the usual blemishes accumulated from normal use. This truck has had Isuzu's recall rust treatment. The painted steel wheels are in good condition and wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler SUV radials with deep aggressive tread. This SUV has a trailer hitch and 4-pin lighting plug. The gray cloth interior is in above average condition. The seats are all comfortable and do not have any rips or tears. The grey carpets are in good condition with the only spot of considerable wear being under the pedals. The headliner is in good condition. This LS package Rodeo come with the power options: power windows, locks, and mirrors. The climate control fan works at all speeds and the heat/cool knob works as it should, but the vent position switch is broken and always in the Defrost & Floor position. This truck is A/C equipped, however A/C button does not appear to work. The factory AM/FM cassette stereo has decent sound quality. The Isuzu Rodeo is an excellent, rugged smaller SUV. It was designed to handle rough conditions, off road driving, and still provide a comfortable vehicle. Isuzu succeeded. If I had to regularly drive on rough roads and I needed a reliable, cheap SUV, this would be my first choice.
