I drive every one of my sale vehicles and write a thorough description including the good and bad of the vehicle. An appointment MUST be made before coming to look at or test drive the vehicle. Up for auction with No Reserve is a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria with the Police Interceptor package. The PI package includes Ford factory installed upgrades such as heavy duty suspension, more aggressive engine tuning, oil and transmission coolers, heavy duty transmission internals, oversized radiator, and wear resistant interior. This Crown Victoria was a detective's car or "undercover" car. It does not have the spotlight or holes from roof lights and antennas. The Police Interceptor uses the same 4.6L "Modular V8" engine as the Mustang and other Ford V8 cars tuned to over 200hp. The engine in this Crown Vic fires right up and has plenty of power. This big sedan will get up and move. It does seem to have a slight miss. The 4R70W transmission shifts well. Like all Interceptors, it is a bit harsh. The heavy duty suspension soaks up bumps like a champ. The brakes stop strong and straight, better than you would expect from a car this big. The exterior of this car is dark blue. The paint is above average for an ex-police car. However, that is not saying it is showroom perfect. It does have the scratches and blemishes that come from a working car (see pics). This car does not appear to have had a windshield spot light or roof lights installed and there are no patched up holes. The black steel wheels and police package center caps are in good condition. The radial tires all have decent tread life left. The interior of this car is the wear resistant blue fabric seats. It has the optional matching fabric rear seat, not the standard vinyl seat. This car does not have holes in the headliner or floors where a cage would install. The headliner is in good condition. The rear door inside latches and controls work as they should, they are not disabled. The heavy duty vinyl floor is in good condition. This car is equipped with power windows, mirrors, and locks. The radio has been removed. The factory wiring and plugs are still intact, so installing a new radio should be a simple task. This car has had the headlights replaced with aftermarket Xenon lights. These lights are bright, but may not pass inspection in all states. The headliner mounted dome light (part of the PI package) works very well. The exhaust system on this car has been replaced with an aftermarket exhaust. It is a little louder and has a nice deep tone that makes the car sound more like a Mustang. The Police Interceptor is a vehicle built to take abuse, be easy to maintain, and last forever. This is a good example of a used one and should give it's new owner a long life of service with the added bonus that people will get out of your way on the road because you look like a cop in their rearveiw mirror.
