Vehicle Detail
I just finished bringing this car back to its former glory, but want to move on to a new project, so you can reap the benefits of my hard work by buying the car now. This car is ready to be a daily driver, but needs a couple last touches to really be complete (see below). The drive train: The engine is a 5.0L 302 that came out of a 1986 Mustang. I’ve warmed it up a bit by replacing the original intake setup with a Weiand Action Plus Hi-Rise dual-plane aluminum intake and Holley 600 CFM vacuum secondary carburetor with electric choke. There is also a Hi-Po air cleaner which all matches the cam very well for excellent throttle response. I have the original C code 289 V8, intake, Autolite carburetor, and air cleaner in my garage. I also replaced the original stamped steel valve covers with chrome Ford Racing valve covers. It has a new starter, starter solenoid, battery, and Carter Muscle car fuel pump, and Transmission Modulator. I also added a 2-inch dual exhaust with crossover. The engine cranks right up with no troubles, even after sitting for a week. It does not smoke, tick, or leak oil. It is not too loud, so it is nice to go down the road and you can carry out a conversation with passengers. It does have a nice burble to it though. The transmission is the factory C4 3-speed automatic which shifts nice and smooth and the differential is the factory 8 inch, with a 2.8:1 ratio. The body: The body was stripped and repainted and all rust and damage repaired. It’s very nice, straight, and very solid. The paint is midnight blue like the factory and suits the car very well. I replaced all of the weather-stripping and the glass looks extremely good without any cracks or nicks. The tail light lenses and bezels are new and the chrome has been polished. The floors and trunk are very solid as the rest of the car. It still has the original jack in the trunk. The fuel tank is new as are the rims and raised white letter tires. The paint could use a good buffing, and touch-up in a couple spots as there are some imperfections because I drive it very often. The interior: I added a new carpet, dash pad, rocker moldings, floor mats, and a new radio that’s actually digital, but looks original and is XM and MP3 compatible. I also put in new kick panels with 6-inch Pioneer speakers. I also have two more to mount in the back and a headliner kit for it that comes with it (headliner is currently out). The door handles are new, as well as the door panels. I am technically the third owner, however, I bought it from a guy whose father had passed it down to him. It shows just over 14000 miles on the odometer, and it has been around once already, putting it at about 114000 miles. I have put less than 1000 miles on the car since I put the 302 in. I’m not sure how many miles are on the motor. I hate to let it go as it was a lot of hard work and I’ve yet to truly enjoy it, but this near done car can be yours. Please note that the headliner has been taken out of the car and car is being sold as is because I do not have the time to put the new one in. Final touches the car needs include: new Mustang lettering on passenger-side fender, emergency brake handle replacement (new handle included), and the new headliner needs to be installed. NOTE: This car is being sold as is. Feel free to contact me with any questions or for more pictures. If you want to take look at the car before purchase, it is your responsibility to make an appointment with me to see the car BEFORE YOU BID. Also willing to consider trades and partial trades + cash for newer Mustangs or an LS1. This is listed locally, so I reserve the right to pull the ad. SHIPPING: Willing to work with buyer to ship vehicle - buyer is responsible for cost. In situations where the buyer is located closely too me, will consider driving the car to meet with buyer TRADES: Newer Mustangs or an LS1. Also would consider partial trades + cash for either of the above.
