Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1966 Ford Econoline SuperVan. My grandfather bought it new in 1966 from Dick Dooley Ford in Hamburg, IA. He lived in southwest IA until moving to Miami, FL in 1972. He used it as his rolling workshop in a construction business he and his brother had until the 1990's but he still used it every once in a while for normal transportation after that. He had a carport in FL in which the van was always under. He did say they put a remanufatured engine in it late 70's or early 80's. The motor has about 75,000 miles he thought. In 2004, he moved here to southeast NE to be closer to his family here and brought this van with him. It has been garaged here ever since and is started up and moved around a few times a year. At the end of fall last year he decided to sell it. I insured it and drove around here locally for a week to see how it ran. Everything seems to be in working order and it ran great. I started it up last week and started right up and drove it about a mile and everything still seems to work good. Now, I have not inspected anything on this van such as brake condition etc. I just know that they are in current working condition and I insist the buyer has it trailered from it's current location as I would hate to see someone or the van hurt. There's the history. Now for the van itself. It's a 1966 Ford Econoline SuperVan. It's has a 240 straight 6 with a 3 speed on the tree. Engine runs strong and the transmission runs smooth and doesn't have any clutch slippage. It does have the belly pan still attached. Heck, the a/m radio still works. It has all the racks and flooring my grandfather installed long ago. I cleaned all his tools and hardware out, but decided to leave the rest in there as not to destroy the individualality this van has. I don't know the condition of the floor underneath, but looks clean from the bottom. There is rust along the rocker on the driver's side and in the rear corners. It is very complete though as only there is not many parts a buyer would have to scroung up. The tires are in good condition and look to have no dry rot. I have not washed or cleaned it as it still has the patina from the way it came from Florida. I wanted to give the buyer that excitement of cleaning the history off of it. The radiator seems to have been repaired, but the van didn't leave even a drop of any fluid on the floor after being parked for the winter. The title is clean, signed, and in hand. Finally the terms of the sale. This van is sold as is where is with no warranty. A $500 deposit is to be made through paypal by the winning bidder at the end of the sale with the rest being paid cash at pickup. Do not bid without the intention buying. The van is to be picked up within 7 to 14 days. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks.
